How To Rock A High-Waist Skirt: Visible Monday

How to rock a high-waist skirt. We’re having a near-record heat/humidity index here and it’s hard to think about style, beyond “is this washable?”. But going out for lunch wearing only a cotton bandana isn’t recommended, or legal.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

So we work our closets for cool, classy outfits. This fab high-waist Haitian-print skirt is the base for a lot of sunny looks. I found it at Suzanne’s vintage shop, (where I also have my eye on this charming high-waist piece). The high waist calls for either a cropped length top or, in this case, a tucked-in tank. You just don’t want to hide the elegant waist here.

The skirt turns out to be by high-end designer Stella Jean, although neither Suzanne nor I knew it when I bought the piece. Happy surprise! The Michael Kors white linen/cotton blend blazer was a thrift find.

My new marine blue linen tank is super-breezy (and washable 😄). It’s from Etsy, and I liked it so much I ordered another in deep green. The tank has a ruffled hem, so when I wear it untucked, I go for slim midi skirts or trousers. It looks equally fresh tucked into my art skirt here, and paired with my Sofft wedge sandals.

Well, that was long enough to wear the blazer, yes? I still have a cool summery look and I’m ready for the sun, with SPF 2000+ lotion and my cotton hat.

I can’t imagine what your heat it like. It is hot here today too and I haven’t considered wearing anything other than my cut-off shorts and a tee and even then I’m only outside when I can find shade.

    Thanks for the shout-out!
