Shopping Your Closet: Visible Monday

vismondayheader

Some days, a jolly mix of what’s in your closet makes for just the right look. No need to press the crowds at Macy’s (opened at 5AM on Friday!). Just take another look at what you’ve got, throw some pieces on the bed and have a private fashion show. As I had nothing new and fab to show you today, I put together some familiar things and made a clothing casserole.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post.

OK, the blouse with the adorable Bambi print (similar) was recently thrifted in NYC for about $15, so it is new-to-me, and already a favorite. Is 61 too old to wear a Bambi blouse? Oh hell no. The olive/gold shrug (sim) was thrifted a couple of years ago, and the AllSaints trousers (sim) were an A+ thrift score, also in Greenwich Village. The Aldo boots (sim) are old as the hills, and have been resoled many times; you can’t give up a pair of comfortable black boots, right?

The olive velvet shrug doesn’t match but it goes. Alas, the black bra would have been better if it were skintone. Thank you, camera, for lessons learned.

Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple:

    2. Include a link to Not Dead Yet Style somewhere in your post.
    3. Go to the bottom of this post and click on the InLinkz button “Add Your Link”. It should open a new page.
    4. In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!

  1. One is never NEVER too old for any Disney character. Never ever πŸ™‚ and I love your shrug, Patti, and those pants with them boots. You look the epitome of glamping.

  2. I’ve been shopping my closet a lot lately! I always try to purchase things off season to save a $ and then it’s all new when the time comes. Looking great as always lady! Peace! Cheryl

  3. Ha ha! It isn’t surprising baby deer like cats. They are both so damn cute.

I adore the blouse (I’d have arm wrestled you for that one!) but I especially like that shrug. I see you were ahead of the game picking up some velvet well before it was deemed “on trend” ; )

    bisous

  4. Putting together an outfit with what’s already in your closet can be a lot of fun. Your outfit came together beautifully – such a fun blouse!

Thanks for the link up & have a great week!

  5. I love this outfit – you look ready to go riding, tally ho! The Bambi blouse is gorgeous, especially with Suzanne’s pin, and I actually like it even better with that black bra, edgy!

  6. Never too old for Bambi and this shirt looks so good on you.Totally agree on shopping your closet , so often it reveals forgotten hidden treasure.

  7. Awww, who doesn’t love Bambi? Very cute. Thank you for hosting such a great link up, Patti! Have a good week. πŸ™‚

  8. You look lovely as usual. I love shopping as a sport but I agree that shopping ones own closet and remixing long time favorites can be most satisfying. It also will yield a unique look that that suits you best. Thanks for sharing and hosting.

  9. Never too old for Bambi! Doesn’t even compute! And I love the postmodern cat badge! You are so right about shopping your closet. My only fear is if I let too many clothes out of the cupboard onto the bed for a fashion show, I will never get them back in again. Thanks so much for hosting Visible Monday again – it’s the best!!
