A Long Duster Sparks Joy: Visible Monday

A long duster sparks joy. Doesn’t everyone love a long duster? And what’s not to love – they make you look taller and thinner (if that’s what you like) and a printed duster adds interest to any neutral outfit. You can find a cool one at the thrift or consignment shop for a nice price.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

This long duster in a cheery floral print is one of my rental pieces from Nuuly this month. (If you want to try their clothing rental service, get $20 off your first order with this link). It’s by Sunburst, and a comfortable medium weight, perfect for about 3/4 of the year in Florida. A knit duster would be excellent if you live north of the Mason-Dixon line 😊.

I love, love the yellow-gold flowers on a deep navy ground. And pockets, gotta love pockets. This long duster also creates a polished outfit over jeans and a simple tee.

The polka dot blouse by Mango was thrifted locally. A deep vee neckline is the most flattering shape for me – which neckline is your personal favorite? And the black skirt is truly a blast to wear, with its distressed, asymmetrical hemline and soft drape. It’s by Nation LTD and another Nuuly rental piece for January.

I tucked the duster behind my back to show off the blouse. The underlying outfit is fine, but the duster gives it a lot more personality.
Stylish and sunny, I wrap up in my long duster and pointy toe chunky-heeled shoes (similar). The good hair is via the Wiki by Ellen Wille.

  1. Here I am again. It has been a long time. So busy. As I am going to retire from my current job in two months, it is getting quiter at work. My successor has already started. When I read your post I grinned when I read that this duster adds interest to a neutral outfit. And then you do some pattern mixing (the blouse and the duster). That to me isn’t neutral haha.
I would LOVE to rent clothes myself, but in the Netherlands they don’t have this service. And I don’t think there is a market for it either. Dutch have a reputation of being stingy.

  2. Patti, I love the way you styled the floral duster and polka-dot top with that skirt. Subtle but pretty pattern-mixing. I, too, like a V-neck. But I also like a slightly high or mock neck for some tops. Thanks for hosting!
