Visible Monday #120:Olive Plus Olive

Welcome to Visible Monday #120! If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post.

Can you tell I-love o-live? It matches my eyes and makes great harmony with my neutral wardrobe. This cool moto vest is by Andrew Marc, purchased at Ross. The almost-perfect-match skirt is a veteran of my closet, a silk gathered waist number from Talbots. It’s been to the donation bag a couple of times, but I keep pulling it out.

I see that black tights would’ve made for better continuity, but it’s been tres warm, so I skipped them. It’s always good weather for my Doc Marten boots!

I love olive! It goes with everything, imho. A GAP tee is a no-brainer.

Now, let’s see what you’re wearing, Visible Women!!

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple!

  1. I cling on to listening to the news bulletin speak about receiving free online grant applications so I have been looking around for the most excellent site to get one. Could you tell me please, where could i get some?

  2. Great outfit. Good thing you rescued this skirt again because it looks great with the moto vest. Yup, every day is a good day for Doc Martens. I disappointed that I missed out this time. See you in a fortnight though. 108 or so fantastic women to keep me busy until then.

  3. Olive green is my favorite color. It's so versatile. Love the boots! Happy New Year!

  4. I love olive too, great colour. And I like your booties (a lot). Still having trouble liking this style. It is high fashion, such booties with skirts, but I am hopeless in adapting to it. When it goes out of style, then I will like it. I am such a slow adapter

  5. I love olive too! I only have a couple of things in olive. The colour suits you very well with your beautiful blonde hair and lovely eyes. With that smile, you can wear any colour! You really must keep this skirt out of the donation bag Patti–especially since it goes so well with your stylish vest!!

Black tights would look BEST, especially since you are wearing Docs. I have very slender (dare I say skinny) legs and I would look like Olive Oyl if I wore boots with a skirt without tights πŸ˜‰ I used to envy women with muscular calves, now I'm just thankful for legs and that I can dance!

Happy New Year and have a fashionable 2014!!
Thanks again for the fashion party you host every second Monday!!

  6. I love vests! And olive, too! Oh yes, and mixing the old with the new. You've done it all and look great. Warmest wishes for 2014! ~ Susan

  7. Olive looks wonderful on you! I love olive too (I agree it's a great neutral!) but I'm not sure it looks as good on me!

  8. Patti I hope you had a fabulous Christmas! You're right about olive – it really suits you and looks perfect with black (mental note made). It's funny what you said about things going in and out of the donation bag… I'm not the only one who does that, then?!

Happy New Year to you and yours πŸ™‚

  9. Bare legs and your Docs look bad ass, love the way you've clipped your hair, too. Olive looks so good on blondes – well, it does on you! xxx

  10. Hello Patti, I'm glad that it's now possible for me to post a comment. In the morning there was no comment-link to click on…. or: I just can't see it??? Maybe I'm blind? I hope you enjoy your trip on the sea? This is one thing I want to do once in my lifetime too.
Thanks for giving us the possibility to share our outfits on your blog.
Have a good time and enjoy the new year party (Sorry, I don't know how to call it in English)

  11. I love the olive on you! Not an easy colour, but you make it look elegant and joyful.
I'm so envious of your weather right now…
Thanks for having us here, once more.
    Happy New Year!

  12. I'm with Alicia and Sue- I have yet to figure out how to wear olive, but you do it so easily. I adore your vest. What a find!

I also think going with the bare calves look was a good choice, and not just for the weather. It keeps the look from being top and bottom symmetrical and highlights your boots. πŸ˜€

  13. Hey Patti… I'm with Spashionista…I find olive difficult to wear. You pull it off fabulously, looking current and edgy. And your skin tone is radiant against olive! But, having said that, for me, the star of the show here is the leaf pendant! It's gorgeous!! Thank you for a wonderful year of link ups!

  14. The vest skirt combo is so cool. I really like wearing the brown boots instead of the more predictable black. You are so edgy, girl.

  15. You look like you'll be warm in this ensemble! Be sure and drop by for my "Year in Review". {and check out my hair in tomorrows post – hint hint}

  16. I olive-it! Very pretty. Hope you're having a blast on your vacation. xo

  17. You pull olive off well. I don't think everyone does!! Love those boots so much. Thanks again for hosting and have the most fabulous New Year!! Xxx

  18. I love Olive. Your Vest & Boots are great and I am glad you kept the Skirt.

My pleasure linking up one last time this year. Happy New Year Patti.

    <3 Ada.

  19. I'm not a fan of olive as it doesn't look good on me (don't we tend to love what looks good on us?), but I do like it on you – you're like my best friend, who also wears it well. But I am stalking a vintage 70s trench online that's olive – who knows? I find different colours look good on a person at different times in life, so things can change. Anyway, Happy Visible Monday, Patti, and Happy New Year!

  20. Sooo cute. I have a pair of burgundy boots collecting dust in my closet because I wasn't sure how to style them…. I absolutely love what you've done with the olive and black. I will be trying something similar.

  21. Love olive too!! You're reminding me I need to add more of it to my arsenal. Love the look, and even though it's too warm for tights (sigh!) you pull it off beautifully. XXOO

  22. Greetings Patti! I think of olive as a neutral…but I also think of coral and burgundy that way! It's a great color for you. Gotta love those pieces that keep making the cut!

  23. I do love the olive on you. Actually olive is one of my favorite colors, we must have the eye thing in common. And smart gal for keeping a hold of that skirt, as Alicia said, it is flawless on you. Pairing olive with black is also my favorite combo so I'm simply loving this entire look, including those funky and fun boots. Hope you're having a grand time at sea.

  24. I adore those boots! And maybe tights would have helped with continuity as you say, but I'm with you… boots and bare legs are always a preference and it gives you more of a warm weather look.

  25. Hi Patti!
Hope your boat trip was enjoyable, you lucky Lady!
I love your olive on olive and I adore hair barrette, such a lovely detail!
    Hugs

  26. I'm a big fan of olive green! Such a great colour! Thank you for another awesome year of Visible Mondays, Patti!

  27. Olive loves you too! I a big olive devotee too. There's a lot of it in my decor.
NO! I DON'T mean avocado! I like olive the food as well. Even as a bath product, olive is nice — those "Kiss My Face" products.
    All hail the mighty olive!
My post today is elaborate, so it'll join in the fun in a bit.

  28. A "color expert" once told me that Blondes look great in Olive. You're proving her right!

  29. The olive color is great on you! Good that you didn't donate this skirt, such a good match for the top. You look free spirited with your boots, necklace and hair clip! You are reminding me of how good olive looks with fair hair and skin, this is inspiration for me to wear it too.

  30. Olive is one of my favorite colors…I think it looks good on so many people. I hope you're having a great time on your adventure! Can't wait to hear about it.

  31. I love olive, too, and use it as a neutral. I just bought a pair of olive boots yesterday. Those Doc Marten boots are pretty darn cool.

  32. Olive is my number one favorite color! You were right to hold onto this one…a little edge, and fun! I love it with black! Happy New Year, Patti!

  33. You do look wonderful in olive!! hope you and the hubby are having loads of fun on your cruise!!

  34. Patti you carry the olive tone very well, not everyone can. I think I actually prefer it with bare legs as the skin tone flows nicely into the boot colour. Great outfit. And happy Visible Monday πŸ™‚

  35. Wonderful look dear Patti with a nice military edge! You look lovely as ever πŸ™‚ Thank you for hosting the fun again πŸ˜€ Hugs, Beata xxx

  36. Glad you didn't donate that skirt because it's flawless on you! I think olive can be very difficult to wear without looking dowdy but you do it with ease. The vest and boots really add a nice modern edge, too! I hope you're enjoying yourself πŸ˜‰
