Style Guide For A NYC Getaway

We’re off to our favorite city, and to our wee studio in Greenwich Village for a Fall trip: cool temperatures, Halloween parades, and pumpkin beers. There’s a free concert at NYU and a $10 musical at the Provincetown Playhouse, starring NYU theatre majors. And of course, the thrift stores that have my heart are waiting. Visible Monday is still ON, and please join us there.

So I finally get to wear some cool-weather clothes and create Fall outfits. My favorite downtown NYC looks for this trip have to include:

My tie-dye coat. I found this at Vix’s, who has a keen eye for vintage clothing. I bought it in the summer, and haven’t had a chance to wear it yet. The weight will be perfect over a sweater and midi skirt.

Doc Martens. These are the greatest for walking all over NYC. They go with everything (at least everything in my NYC closet : > ) and are super resilient. I love them with tights and a skirt.

I don’t have this color . . . yet.

Speaking of tights and a skirt, I love to wear leggings with midi skirts. We’re no where near tights weather in Florida, so I’ve been jonesing to wear my favorites, like these whimsical cats. A faux leather midi skirt in darkest brown will be another featured piece.

It looks simple, but it’s so versatile. I love it with a cream sweater and Docs.

Gloves and scarves make all the difference. No need for them in Florida for another month, so I can’t wait to rock my colorful scarves. I thrifted a smart pair of cobalt leather gloves, too, that will be just right coverage for this time of year.

I love an oversized scarf that can turn into a wrap. This one is cashmere, my favorite : >

Stay warm and fabulous, xo

  1. That coat really is a thing of beauty. And I wouldn’t mind having a pair of Doc Martens in that colour! Have a wonderful time in NYC! xxx
