I think black and white are always chic, year-round and at any age. It’s a fashion combination that lends itself to pattern mixing, layering, and shots of color.
Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now! |
This black and white maxi skirt is one of the many vintage goodies I’ve purchased from fellow bloggers. In this case, it’s from the gorgeous Vix of Vintage Vixen. I love the sweep of it and the Greek Key hemline. The checked blazer is also thrifted, and it’s by Trina Turk. A bright green bangle adds some color, and a black-and-white bangle would be fab too.
Below, black and white done in black and white filter. I see the outfit would be better with a lower neckline blouse, maybe a pussy-bow. The magic of photography as a teaching tool! I’m showing off my Doc Martens – love a good boot with a feminine skirt.
Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.
The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple:
-
- Whoever wants to can join in! Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day.

- In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!

Great combination! Fun and elegant at the same time.
WOW! I love this outfit just the way it is! But a blouse with a bow or a fun scarf can provide a different feel and maybe even more pattern mixing, which is brilliant here in your new combination. I also love a solid boot with a feminine skirt, great contrast! <3
Groovy pattern mixing! I’m really digging that you went with brown boots.

Fabulous look Patti! Love the black and white photo! My favourite colour combo, although black and white are not actually colours. 🙂 I’ve gone on two vacations now, packing only black and white, so easy to mix and match with a minimum of pieces, leaving room for new purchases which always go with black and white. I added pops of red and also turquoise on my NYC adventure.
Thank you for hosting! Merry Christmas!

Loving this! The black and white in the two patterns looks fabulous. Not surprised you got that cool vintage maxi from Vix. She has great stuff. And though I usually default to red to accent my b&w outfits, I really like that touch of green from the bangle. I’m going to have to remember to try green next time.

Black and White always works. Thanks for the link up …have a great week and Merry Christmas!
That skirt is so elegant! And versatile, I bet it looks great as part of a hot weather outfit, too.
I really like the black and white. In the pet blogging world, we would have a Black and White Wednesday and that use to be one of my favorite posts to do.
Great pattern mixing and I really like the two different sleeve lengths. That is something I am going to remember.
