I’ve had a tux jacket on my wish list for ages. Not too masculine, good quality, no frills. Eureka – while sorting clothes at the Molly Mutt Thrift shop where I volunteer, I found a fabulous one, for $10 with my discount. Search over.

A tux jacket on a woman is a favorite look:

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post.

This jacket is by Trina Turk, one of my favorite designers. She made my fab Goddess Skirt. The jacket fits perfectly, has a single button, which I love for creating a waistline, hits at the hip, and the collar is as shiny as I could have dreamed of. I can’t wait to wear it with my jeans for date nights.

Here I chose to wear my new jacket over a vibrant Karina Tracy knit dress. I love how the jacket gives the straight shift a curvy look. My Suzanne Carillo-created necklace and very old, but beloved, Sofft booties finish it up. Hooray for thrifting; so long as you have patience, the treasures will appear.

  1. I am sure you will have lots of fun with this jacket. It looks wonderful. I have one myself, come again, I have a black one and a white one (lucky me) which are longer. So I cannot wear them on a dress like you do so well. But indeed on jeans they are great.

  3. That’s so bizarre, I was chatting to my friends earlier about how we all wore over-sized 1950s men’s dinner jackets in the 1980s and there you are doing it at lot better 30 years later! xxx

  4. Hi Patti, I just thought I’d join you with my tux on your link up today. I love your feminine styling with that floral dress and those cheeky little booties – you look cute as ever! Thank you for the opportunity to take part in your link up party x

  7. I own a couple of tux blazers and love them. Actually my black one is very similar to yours. I must try it over a pretty floral dress.

  12. Wowza! SCOOOOORE!!!

You are right, one needs to have patience when thrifting but then something like this comes along and it feels a bit like you’ve won the lottery.

I’ve decided that regular shopping is just to boring for me now. Thrifting, vintage or consignment is more challenging and more rewarding.

Will be linking up tomorrow : )

  13. I love your jacket, Patti! And it looks great styled with your dress and booties, I would never have thought to do it. By coincidence I was wearing my “anti-tux” suit, a Nuage design, a new take on the tux. It’s meeeelting! Thanks for the party. Drinks after at my house.

  14. Very elegant, and the jacket will work brilliantly with jeans or silk trousers ( for summer). What a bargain!

  16. I also love the tux look on a woman & would even go the entire suit! I used to have one but for some reason I gave it away many years ago, of course now I totally regret that & am desperate to find another. Well done on your jacket Patti, I have to say that volunteer job has some pretty awesome perks πŸ˜‰
