I like my clothes to have a touch of whimsy or attitude. This is easier to do when one is retired, for sure. Even casual workplaces don’t encourage “Kiss Me, I’m French” sweaters. A little dog and a Buddha provide just the right formula for me today, to look pulled together without looking like a retired lady’s catalog (no names).

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post.

I love wearing my Petit Chien sweater (similar), because the dog is so adorable – he makes people smile. I’m a cat person, but who doesn’t love a bulldog puppy? The velvet skirt (sim) is one of my favorites too, bought at a Housing Works Thrift Shop in Soho. It’s by Trina Turk, and the design and colors are easy on the eyes. The Buddha inspires me to peaceful thoughts during the day.

Faux pearls (sim) are always in style, and the bracelet is a gift from a dear friend – vintage 1960’s.

Reliable old Doc Marten boots (sim) finish the look.

Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

  1. I love the casual chic of this outfit – very simple shapes but the cute graphic on the t and the beautiful print and fabric of the skirt make it dressy. I would have scooped up that skirt too (not that it would have fit me).

  2. Oh my goodness, I LOVE your sweater! I’m more of a cat person too but I have a bulldog sweater – basically I just love animal motif tops. When I scrolled down my eyes went immediately to the fox sweater…alas it’s only available in XS…the hunt goes on! Gorgeous skirt, it looks fab with the brown boots.

  8. What a great eclectic outfit! Better not bring this to Arizona, it may not make it back to Florida.

Cannot wait to see you again my friend!

  9. I want to borrow this entire look or outfit for that matter. The sweater is cute in a fun grown up way and that velevet skirt is to die for both with the style and the vibrant colors. Great look my friend.

  10. Ah, those French Bulldogs, people love them…..but it is that skirt I think is amazing. That is incredible that it is printed on velvet-what a great find!
