Here’s my long ivory crochet skirt, rehabilitated. I haven’t shown the crochet skirt on the blog since this unhappy incident: when my husband told me my look was “country” and I did not approve. I have worn the skirt since then, because I really do like it and it was hand-crocheted by a friend. It’s got a nice bohemian vibe and I couldn’t find a similar one in the stores.
Today it was cool enough outside to do the crochet skirt, black leggings (similar), a black layering tee (sim) and a thrifted Talbot’s cotton sweater (sim). And of course some funky boots – these are by Steve Madden. They have a side zipper so I don’t have to lace up every time, lazy dresser that I am. A thrifted bird pendant (sim) is my only jewelry, as it makes its own statement.
I felt great in this outfit, not too country nor very dressed-up – just that nice middle zone of feeling authentic and pulled-together. That’s pretty much my daily dressing goal. Do you have a daily dressing goal too?
Stay fabulous, and P.S. there ain’t nothing wrong with country if that’s your thing, xo

I definitely get ‘boho’ and not ‘country.’ It’s gorgeous. I admire your gracefulness at being able to wear such a skirt. I’m such a klutz, I’d catch it on everything and probably end up unraveling it by the end of the day.
I like the way you’ve styled the skirt and it doesn’t look “country” at all 😉 As one other commenter mentioned, I think a leather jacket would look great with it to add a bit of edge to the crochet.
Love the skirt looks fantastic on you!!!!
Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style.
I love this outfit 🙂
Your skirt is a true beauty, Patti! I grew up with knitters, and hand-made clothing was what we would wear pretty much every day. I do have appreciation for both uniqueness and work which go into pieces like your skirt.
To answer your question, I can’t say I ever thought of my goal. I simply follow my mood and instinct.
how interesting – there is a lot of work involved! thanks for your kind words, xo
Great outfit! I found you at High Latitude Style.

thanks for coming by, Lexie!
Love how you’ve combined this beautiful skirt with a sweater and boots. Looks fabulous on you! Topped off by your gorgeous hair, of course!
thank you Judith! xo
I love the skirt, Patti. It is so vintage. I think I would even like it with a leather jacket. I always have trouble with crocheted items myself, I have never mastered the layering technique.
A leather jacket is a great idea – thanks Tania. xo
I think the skirt is such a unique piece, and the fact that it’s special to you comes through in the pictures. Keeping the rest of the styling simple and modern works too, and the overall look is “eclectic” rather than “country.”
thank you Susan – the person who made it is special to me. xo
you look great and the skirt is fabulous. i’m going to try to make one myself as one of my 16 creative projects this year.
thanks Rena. I love your creative goal, xo

I love the crocheted skirt! So 70’s : ) The fact that it has friendship stitched right in makes it even better.
My goal when I get dressed is to leave a lasting impression.
bisous
