I feel close to so many of you, even though we’ve never met. I feel like I could tell you secrets, and you’d keep them. When my cat is sick, I think you care, and I care when you hit a bump in the road. So you’re not my “blogger friends”, you’re my friends.
It’s a big thrill when I get to meet a friend in person. I first lunched and shopped with Paula of Fashion Over Fifty almost two years ago, when she was visiting Florida. When she told me she was visiting again, we made quick, decisive plans to get together.
Vero Beach is halfway between our way-stations. We started with decadent coffees at Starbucks, and wow, we had plenty to say. So much to dish share about our blogging lives, families, work, and feelings about being 50-somethings in a 30-something world.
Proper lunch was had at Ocean Grill. We had an almost-private room with a stunning beach view.
We ate here. One of us had the “I Feel No Pain” special drink of the day. |
The shopping in the beach area of Vero is high-end and “ladies who lunch”. Even though we had just lunched, we didn’t buy anything at the inflated beach prices. We did eyeball recklessly though.
We’d wear these (guess who’d wear the colorful one?), but no monograms, please. |
We both fell hard for the dress on the far right. Paula said she’d wear floral trousers but I demurred. She would look fab, of course. |
Another dress that got both our votes. The artist in Paula liked the vibrant photo-print. |
The shoes! Wish I’d bought them, and I may still. They were like walking on little pillows, and the colors are cool.
Two midlife bloggers, approaching fast on age 60, but feeling alive, full of laughs, and appreciative for all the good things we still look forward to. What a wonderful day.
Come on, Paula, move to Florida! |
Laugh a lot and stay fabulous,
i love reading content

the Palestinians’ most powerful weapon would remain the death
a state of perpetual war. Against a vastly superior Israeli army,
Palestinians need peace, consider what would become of them

What a fabulous photograph of the two of you. What fun to meet up and style clothes, lunch, and catch up. Totally jealous!
It sounds like an amazing get together! You and Paula look so pretty and so lovely, and so happy here!! 🙂
You both look so vibrant and beautiful! I'm so grateful for our blogger community- truly we have been blessed to be able to connect with so many wonderful spirits!
I adore this last photo of you two. So full of pleasure and hapiness for life!
Lovely, lovely post !!
Paul
How AWESOME!!! Sounds like a great day, and I am so thrilled when fellow friends meet IRL.
Isn't blogging wonderful? I used to think the internet was frequented by spotty teenagers, nerds and weirdos and how my opinion has changed. My life is so much richer from the wonderful friendships I've made! You and Paula look like you're having the time of your lives, the location looks wonderful and that dress was gorgeous. xxx
I did not notice that. Par for the course, no?
I feel the same way about my "blogger friends" as you, and am happy to have a number of them become "real life friends". It looks like you had a wonderful day together with food, cocktails and some window shopping. I think you should go back and get the shoes.
Thanks! Just didn't read close enough. 🙂
Looks like you ladies had a great time! Love that dress and you too look so beautiful!

Sassy's Boutique in Vero Beach.
I love that dress on the right too! Where is it from?
Thanks Sue!
Dont we regret taking pictures of that TRIPPY interior at Ocean Grille??? Lol That is a post in itself!
I love the way you put this together in a post! I'm still pinning after some of those dresses we saw. And Im glad you put this together for a post because i ambeing LAZY!
Maybe I will be moving…you never know, GF! Xoxo
The first time I got together with another blogger — in 2007 — people asked me, "Why would you do that?!?" My attitude was always why not? I've met some great people. Glad you ladies had a good time.
You are both beautiful! WHat a lovely idea!

The UK is so on my short list, to visit you, and The Queen, and etc. xo
It's the "I Feel No Pain" cocktails. xo
yes, you are. I'd love to visit SoCal and soon.
thanks Sue! We talked about you and your mad skillz.
sure! just click on the link at the word "shoes" and it takes you to Zappos.com, and you can see all the colors.
For those of us who don't live near Vero Beach, can you tell us who made the wedge sandals, or is that a no-no? Just a hint? I love "wedgies" of any height; they seem to make a person feel firmly grounded.
Those dresses are so pretty and it isn´t it nice to finally meet not just a blogger friend but a friend for life who shares the same interests especially on the fashion side as you? 😉

Yep…you look like a couple of sixteen year olds, and I mean that in the most flattering way! I love the stripey dresses, especially with the boots! Fabulous!
Two beautifully happy women who Know How . . .
You're both so cute. And so YOUNG! I love it when "blog" friends get together. I'll tussle you for both dresses. And….I just beat you to the 60 mark: http://conniesnow.blogspot.com/2014/03/my-favorite-year.html Come on over to Southern California and we'll celebrate mid-life! Am I still a mid-lifer?
So awesome! Girl time at it's very best! Can't wait to meet some of my new blogger friends in person someday!
That is so cool that you got to meet up again! Sounds like it was a great time!
What a fun day! You two look so happy and nowhere near 60 I might add. Not even remotely. Someone must have a stash of vampire blood hidden somewhere.
I love that watercolour dress and those shoes.
bisous
Suzanne
That looks like so much fun! And I love the clothes you were eyeing. I keep seeing graphic prints on blogs (like that dress) and I really like them.
How nice. Meeting blogger-friends in person is the best. Glad you had fun.
Ahh, like you, I have stopped saying "blogger friends" – friends are friends, however we meet them! What a delight to meet up with Paula, for coffee, lunch, window shopping, and plenty of chat. That's a great photo of the two of you together.
I like the dress you both fell for too, and definitely get those cool sandals, they are fabulous! xxx
I really like the dress and shoes you guys picked. Is Vero beach fairly near St. Augustine's? If it is I think I ate at that restaurant about 3 years ago. I thought it was a beautiful place.
Those shoes are awesome! Go back and get them! And so are you and Paula…how much fun. I spent yesterday with my dear friend, GIGI, and it was so much fun! We filled her trunk with shopping bags, our stomachs with cheesecake and our spirits with each other. Glad you guys had fun.
I've met some fabulous women through blogging – both online and in the real world – it is a wonderful thing!
You both look so happy and lovely! Being with friends has that effect. I'd have been tempted by those shoes too, very cute.
ha, amazing and I love the sunnies!
