A Holiday Capsule For Grown-Up Women

Of course you know what my first suggestion is for holiday outfits: wear what you like and own it, because you’re awesome and can pick your own clothes. Some women have one or two really glam dresses for special holiday events, but I have never owned one. Life in Florida is casual, and I am probably not getting invited to the next presidential Inaugural Ball, do ya think?

So dressy separates are my favorite way to go, for the dozens handfuls of parties we’ll be invited to this season. If you’re looking for some easy, affordable suggestions for holiday wear, here you go:

Either a fabulous full skirt:

Or a classic pair of dark or ivory dressy trousers

Add a slinky top or two, like this gorgeous coffee colored silk one:

And/or a sequined beauty of a sweater – cardigan or pullover –  that you can wear on any day with your favorite jeans.

The magic continues with knock-em-dead shoes, either heels:

Or swoony flats that scream “party!”

A cool clutch that you may not choose to wear all the time, so keep it low-priced

Your favorite jewelry – pile on pearls and rhinestones and color,

Or wear one killer piece, like this brooch:

Play a little with your eyes and lips. Add an extra coat of eyeliner and mascara and your favorite cheery lipstick. One that holds on through many sips of Chardonnay is best.

Mix and match these pieces as you see fit, and if a ball gown is more your thing – please put a picture in the comments! xo

Stay fabulous,

  1. Some great choices here Patti. Separates all the way! I have some glam frocks but I never get the chance to wear them. I love the silver boots and glittery brogues you’ve featured….I have a passion for metallic footwear!

  2. I LOVE that metallic pleated skirt you’ve chosen here.

I am rather fond of ballgowns ; P It is one of my many weaknesses.
