I’m excited about being More Visible begining June 27th. (Please see this post and Paula’s post if you are scratching your head now with confusion). I’m just going to jump in with both feet and try to make it happen. That’s one of the most exhilarating parts of having a blog: no wrong answers!
Let’s leap into Visible Monday by settting up some very fluid guidelines and how-tos:
- Any Monday, whoever wants to can join in by using the word “Visible” or the initials “VM” in their post title. The post can then include any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes us feel more confident, alive and visible that day.
- Include a link to Not Dead Yet Style somewhere in your post.
- Just email me your photo and the url of your post that day. I’ll display your photos and links to your blog. This way we can all share in each other’s visible celebrations. Your post will (hopefully) get more circulation and we can inspire each other.
If only two or three of us participate, that’s OK! It’s not about numbers but about sharing some positive images of grown-up women. About feeling proud of our physical selves as well as our life accomplishments.
I’m posting a photo today, to help get myself motivated. I am shy about showing myself on the web, but so many of you brave and beautiful bloggers have preceded me. What’s to fear?
I hope a couple of you will join me on Monday, June 27th!

I am so glad I finally get to see your Face!!! Why have you been hiding? You are shy? Hey, we were all a little afraid in the beginning..now I even share non-make up shots…brrrrr. Paula
I'm just joining the community as a blogger and I'd love to participate! Thanks for giving me an opportunity to network! 🙂
I adore your blog–I think you dress so classy for any age!
Hello Kari, and thanks so much for dropping by. I agree about the coming-out pictures, we have to take a big breath and do it. So sorry about your bad experiences. I looked at your blog and you look very lovely and confident now! Please do send a pic tomorrow and I'll post it in my gallery. –Patti
I am going to have to try this … I took a break from blogging, and being visible is a good way to get back into it, right? Thanks for posting your pic! It is hard to do, isn't it? It's actually one of the reasons that I started blogging, was because I was so uncomfortable about seeing myself (years of marriage to a very not nice man — and yes, I am divorced, but I still saw myself through his eyes).
Anne – Thank you! Hope your trip was for fun, or at least included fun. : >
Terri – The official (hee!) launch isn't till next Monday, the 27th. Thanks for your faithful support!
Reflections – Thank you for reading! I really like your blog – did you do the art for your logo? Love it. Please come back again.
Debbie – Thanks for coming by – your blog is lovely and full of good finds! I see that you too have discovered the "bargain" Norma Kamali's!
I just found your blog through a comment on Rags Against the Machine. Your blog title caught my eye. Even though I joke about wishing my super power is invisibility, I don't want to become invisible as I age. I've already posted for today but I will do my best to remember to email a post and join in next week. I'm going to start following just as soon as I finish this comment because I love hearing what you're saying! Debbie http://thriftygirlvintage.com
I was nervous, and still am, about "showing" myself. But I think there is a more personal connection when readers can see you. And you are so great looking! I like reading your blog very much and now can't wait for more of YOU.
Oh, it is so good to have a face to go with the name. I already have tomorrow's post planned, but if this is a regular every Monday thing, I may be able to get my act together by next week.
Oh my goodness, there you are! You're gorgeous! I'm behind on all blog-related matters (I've been away, and hotels that charge for wireless are EVIL). But I will try to catch up quickly, and I look forward to seeing the first posts!
Une Femme – Thank you! Your blog is a great inspiration.
Marguerite – Thank you for reading and joining in! You are so right about what we have to offer.
Serene – Aw, you are very kind. You've helped me with your wonderful self-portraits.
Wendy – Nice to see you too! I'm a huge fan of your jewelry and blog!
Marsha – Thank you for the very welcome compliment. Congruence is a valued trait in midlife! Please come by again.
It's nice to see that your appearance is congruent with my impresion of you gained through reading your blog – you look like somebody I would like – and not even remotely invisible.
I didn't want to show myself at first and people teased me into it, and since then I've teased other people into it. Thanks for saving me the trouble 🙂 Nice to see you!
Well why have you been keeping yourself invisible on your blog?! You're absolutely stunning and I'm enjoying reading your posts. We need so many more over 40 bloggers. Isn't this the time in our lives where we start to figure ourselves out a bit? Thanks for sharing! It really does take guts to put yourself out there! ~Serene
I just found your blog and enjoy it! My husband and I were just discussing my feelings about women of a certain age seeming to be invisible. It's such a shame, since we have a wealth of knowledge and talents galore. I blame our youth centric culture. I will stand with you and come out of invisibility. Thanks for the opportunity.
Nice to meet you! You're so very pretty!
