I love a vintage maxi skirt. They’re still plentiful and the designs are wonderfully varied. This black and white beauty is from the fabulous Vix’s Kinky Melon shop, so you know it’s extra-good.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post.

The new-to-me skirt is a heavy, silky synthetic, not like modern flimsy polyesters. It’s even lined! I love the way it looks like a split skirt from some angles, due to the front pleat. And don’t miss the Greek-key design at the hem. You have to shop at Vix’s, and the shipping to the U.S. is reasonable.

I added a moody purple mock-turtleneck top (thrifted, similar) with three-quarter sleeves. My leaf pendant (thrifted?, sim) adds a little bling and my bronze cowboy boots (thrifted, sim) are there just because I love them. Favorite bracelet from Bella’s shop (sim). Don’t you enjoy putting together outfits from pieces you love?

The hair is looking a bit floofy on top (hello Lyle Lovett), now that I see it clearly.

  1. You look beautiful in your purple and black outfit, Patti! Love the new design of your blog as well. And as always, so agree with you on wearing the pieces that we love. What else to do, really. 🙂

  2. What a great outfit, Patti! I love the deep purple colour and the Greek key detail on the skirt. I think I would be all swishy and inclined to sashay if I were wearing that outfit. I do hope you did some sashaying. xoxo

  3. Patti – the skirt is lovely! It looks like culottes and the greek key pattern is fab! A very elegant look and your hair makes such a good contrast with the skirt and top colour.

    Cheers!

  4. That skirt does look like pants! I can see why you bought it. So unusual and timeless.

I also like the bold purple on you. I’m a sucker for jewel tones. I think they look great on everyone.

  5. Wow! You’ve certainly done that maxi justice! I love it with the purple and how the inverted pleat exaggerates the A Line shape, making it almost look like culottes! I’d kill for your curls. xxx

  6. At first I thought those were palazzo pants. No matter what, this is a fantastic piece! The skirt must move wonderfully, and maybe even make a swish sound with that lining. Give my Lovett hair any day. He’d approve of those boots too. So much blogger love in this outfit, Patti.

  7. I love your maxi skirt and think it’s a great idea to pop on a pair of cowboy boots for a funky look. I’ve never tried that myself, but may well have to give it a go. Thank you Patti for the link up this week x

  8. Can’t beat a vintage maxi, and that one is a beauty! Vix mentioned you’d shopped Kinky Melon, so I’ve been eagerly waiting to find out what you bought, and I love your choice. You look long and lean and elegant! xxx

  9. Black and navy is rarely worn together, but when its done, it looks very cool. This skirt is a definite wow. At first glance I thought it was VERY wide-legged trousers with the pleat in the center. Very cool Patti. Have a wonderful week!

  10. Ah, don’t you love the great quality of real vintage!? And the cut is so unique and the pattern is so funky! Love the Lyle hair, Patti! You are rockin’ it, my dear! Sometimes you just have to go with the crazy and be damned what anyone thinks, said the lady in the crazy pink tentacle coat (hee hee). Thank you so much for hosting such a fun group of visible women!

  11. Luv that pattern. Hey, hey, hey. We’re twins today, Patti. I’ve got on black and white pattern with deep purple too. ahh, but my hair, as always, no matter what, is absolutely straight. Nothing angelic happening there.

  12. What a gorgeous maxi, so unique and flirty!! Oh and I swoon over that mock turtleneck, the feminine neckline, the color…it goes soooo good with your hair!! Just gorgeous my friend!!

  13. OMG Patti I ADORE the neckline of your top!! It reminds me of 1930s movie stars’ dresses… I’m sure they had those necklines!

Thank you for hosting, have yourself a wonderful week and hope to see you at #iwillwearwhatilike tomorrow 🙂

  14. It’s a beautiful skirt. And floofy hair… That happens, with curly hair, better just learn to live with it. In my case, all it takes is a bit of humidity and my hair decides that ‘poodle’ is the look of the day.
