Florida only has two seasons, cool-ish, and really freaking hot. We’re about to veer into that second season. I’m motivated now to clear out my closet and look for gaps. The will be my first “retired” summer ever, and I want to look pulled together while casual, not a Lady Who Lunches nor a Lady Who Plays Shuffleboard.
I’ll likely return to varieties of my summer uniform: cotton skirts/linen trousers/tanks and sandals. But every woman craves something novel now and then, whether we go to the office, work from home in our jammies, plow the fields, or entertain toddlers.
Here’s what’s on my wish list:
- Tops with personality (plus basic tees and tanks from GAP).
The mixed prints and irregular hemline draw me into this one, from Anthropologie. |
Cotton tee with a graphic collage via Macy‘s. To wear with a knee length linen skirt and sandals. No midriff will be showing on moi. |
- Walking sandals. No More Heels, ahhhhh. I’d like a pair of sandals that will let me walk all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, and look cute doing it.
These Dr. Martens maybe a bit clunky or even Old Lady (!) Don’t care, I like them for those five-mile days. |
These metallics by Sam Edelman are more refined than the Docs. I might need both pairs, right? |
- Easy skirts. Cotton, linen, rayon, or lightweight silk are best for me. A couple with patterns, and a few solids, to wear with all my tees. I wear knee length-to-ankle-length with ease. I even bike around in long skirts, I just yank them up a bit and go.
Love the print and the unusual hemline. Via Macy‘s |
The gorgeous and generous Pippa of Too Cheap Blondes sent me these three skirts! This gets my summer closet off to a cheery start. My favorite is the oddly-draped knit skirt on the left – it has soul. |
