My Spring Wish List, Pandemic Edition

My Spring wish list, pandemic edition. There’s not much shopping happening in my life. We get groceries delivered and we pick up prescriptions at the curb. Somehow the Mall parking lot always looks crowded, but not with my car. I haven’t been inside a regular retail store in over a year – dropping donations at the Molly Mutt Thrift doesn’t count as shopping, right?

I am working my small wardrobe, and following a mostly one-in, one-out routine. All of my meager clothes shopping is done through Etsy, Poshmark, eBay, and a bit of Amazon these days.

But we all enjoy something fresh for a new season. Here are a few things I’m looking at for Spring:

  • A lightweight midi skirt. All my skirts cover my knees, and that’s a great length for me to play with at 5’6″. For warm months – that’s most of them in Florida 😊 – I like a cotton or lightweight denim skirt to wear with any of the tops in my closet. A full silhouette is my favorite for Spring.
This full linen skirt can be made for you in any one of 20+ colors. I love this pale blue for Spring.
  • High waisted straight leg jeans. I know, high-waisted jeans are likely already in all those “Don’t Wear This Over 50” articles. Don’t care. I like the look right now, and it’s perfect for slightly cropped tees. No skin will show! but I like to see my waistline now and then.
Spring wish list
I just bought jeans to replace my wide leg crops, that no longer spark joy. These are classics that can be worn every day. They don’t make a statement but they’re a great outfit-building piece.
  • Upgraded tank tops in silk and linen. Tanks are standard issue for Florida weather, and I will show my upper arms all day long. It gets hot! This year I plan to add a couple of upgraded linen tanks and maybe a silk one, to wear with my straight jeans or midi skirt.

Simple silk camis like these are also chic layered under a vee-neck or a fitted cardigan.
  • A shot of botox for the “elevenses” expression between my brows. This past year has been tough on my face, lots of anxiety and loss had to pass over it (two of our three beloved cats crossed the bridge). I am in favor of a touch of medical help – for myself, your mileage may vary.

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes because that is the doorway to her heart.”

-Audrey Hepburn
My man and I got out of the house one night for a tiny party at the art gallery. Felt like old times! But with masks.

What’s on your wish list for Spring style? And where are you shopping these days?

Stay safe, wash and wash and wash (your hands), xo

  1. Hi Patti, for Spring I will be shopping my closet. I have done a inventory of my closet on the computer and intend to make sure I wear all the things I love, starting with my gre cool leopard long duster paired with purples and pastels. I will be cropping a pair of white jeans that have not had much wear. I have identified this is why the do not get as much wear as the dark wash in the same style I have that I cropped. Today my world was white when I woke up but it has already melted so I am hoping Spring is on the way soon. You look fab in the pics btw. Rgds, Lise

    • Hello Lise and thanks for coming over. I like the color palette you’re creating for Spring. We haven’t seen snow for many years in Florida – I am just a little bit jealous. Stay well and safe, xx.

  2. PS So sorry for the loss of your beloved cat. I hope their soul is happily prancing around in heaven with all the beloved pets that have passed.

  3. Great picture of you and your husband encircled in art. .I look so forward to Spring with beautiful sunshine , warmer weather, flowers and lighter soft color clothing. That soft blue skirt you showcased was lovely reminded me of the skies in Impressionist paintings. A stylist I read suggested creating outfit color paring inspired by paintings you like something one can do mixing that skirt with a camisole in your article . Merci beaucoup for the fashion and Botox cosmetic share.

    • Good morning Joan and thanks for your kind words! Yes, the colors of Spring are soft and inviting. You may be referring to The Vivienne Files? She does beautiful wardrobe sets from art pieces. Stay well and safe, xx.

  4. Me too! Feel the stress of all of this has taken a toll so a little freshening up and updated makeup/hairstyle is called for!

  5. I, too, experienced the passing of my beloved cat, after a long kidney disease battle. I’m so sorry for your loss, twice over. My husband and I have no children to parent–it all went to our beautiful intelligent fur baby. The loss is hard.
Glad to hear, though, that you got out–to a party!! It’s wonderful how 1 event can provide energy and joy for a long time!

    • Hello Gai and thanks for coming by. I am sorry as well for your loss, and we also have no children. Our cats have been precious to us, so I understand your feelings. I think of them every day! Wishing you well, and stay safe, xx.

  6. Aw, good to see you and Sandy, Patti – I’m so sorry to hear of your dear kitties’ passing. *hug*

This spring, I’m jonesing for floral – I want giant floral dresses (with Docs if it’s cold, sandals if warm). I also love high-waisted pants (they hide a multitude!), so fuck it, wear ’em!

    • Oh hey Sheila and thanks for the kind words. Giant floral dresses sound exciting! And easy to find second hand. Best to you and L, and stay safe, xx.
