It’s fun to mix vintage and modern styles, and to mix casual with dressy pieces. I wasn’t trying to do that today, but that’s how it turned out. I’m not one to lay out my clothes the night before, but rather to stand in front of my closet with one favorite piece in hand, then try to add joy.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

I started with my newly-thrifted wool grey skirt (similar). It’s practically a mini by my standards, but I love the shape and the soft wool texture. My 1940’s fancy wool jacket makes a great topper, bringing in color and sophistication, and a nice waist-defining shape.

For whimsy, I wore my pussycat tights, gifted by Zohara. Without the jacket the outfit turns pleasantly casual: sailor-striped tee (similar), and funky octopus necklace from Sheila of Ephemera. Chunky boots (sim) for the finish, and I’m wearing my own bio hair today!

Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple:

    1. Whoever wants to can join in! Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day.
    2. Go to the bottom of this post and click on the InLinkz button “Add Your Link”. It should open a new page.
    3. In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!
    4. Visit a few other bloggers, to make new friends and increase your own following.

  1. HiTerri – what a great outfit! The skirt and jacket would be good to wear back here in the UK as it’s snowing even down south where I live! And thank you so much for the feature on your Facebook page – it’s so generous of you and appreciated very much x

  2. As it happens, I too am wearing a mix of old and new! I’m loving your newly thrifted skirt and the pussycat tights! xxx

  3. There’s something really satisfying about thrifting and finding a fabulous bargain is so motivating!! You look so darling and sort of vintage 40’s here Patti! The tights are the cherry on top!!

  4. Testing, Patti – I’ve noticed lately that my comments are not appearing…

  5. Wow, I wouldn’t have realized that was the same outfit had you not said so. That jacket really made a difference in jazzing your ensemble up for a night out of the town, so to speak.

  6. I love this outfit, so super playful! Two very different characters, with and without the gorgeous vintage jacket, both are wonderful! Thank you for the party, dear Patti! <3

  7. Love the skirt and that jacket you are wearing, the details of both are fantastic. I also Love the jacket from Etsy that you linked to. And you know I am a fan of stripes , so I like that look as well. Have a great week ahead!

  8. So cute! I try and do the same thing: mixing modern with classic, older pieces. If I don’t, I can look frumpy.

  9. I love the whimsy of the tights, perfect! I love thrifting I haven’t done it in awhile, but scoring a great piece is so much fun!

  11. LOVE this sentence… “I’m not one to lay out my clothes the night before, but rather to stand in front of my closet with one favorite piece in hand, then try to add joy.” That is such a great description! Those adorable statement cat tights certainly bring the joy! I adore those. xx
