|This woman rocks (and rolls)|
I came home from work yesterday to a wonderful email from fashion blogger Alicia of Spashionista. She’s creating a new community, the Roll Model Roster (she says “pun intended” ☺). In her words:
I’m starting a page that will serve as a directory of every fashion blog, lifestyle blog, or individual that wants to band together to support positive social change for their cause. My goal is to unite disabled, plus-sized, and 40+ readers to become positive instruments for collective social change. You can read more about it here.
When you click on that link, you’ll get to watch a short video of Alicia explaining why she’s moved to action. I am on board, and want to be a Roll Model.
Although it’s caused some(!) stress among my family members, I have a strong political streak. I keep most of my political opinions to myself re: this blog, because it’s not the platform for such things. But when I hear Alicia talk about struggling with access to fashion, I know the paths (style and justice) have crossed.
Please take a few minutes and check out Alicia’s ideas. As Margaret Mead famously said:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
And, from the Travel tales, I got a chance to visit Pink Cheetah Vintage last weekend! Becky wasn’t able to be at the shop that day, but I had a lovely browse and bought some bracelets. Stop by if you are in the Tampa area, it’s very cool.
