I love a little black dress. Really, I could wear one almost every day, with just a little tweaking here and there. A black dress goes with everything, is always in style, and doesn’t show the burrito sauce.
Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now! |
The black dress I wore today is a second-hand number I found on eBay for about $25. It’s by COS, one of my new favorite brands (mostly secondhand) for basics. I like their minimalist silhouettes; they come off as a Parisian look to me although the company is Swedish. This dress has cap sleeves, an easy fit, and pockets, and a light fabrication for Florida hell Summer season.
I added a sheer floral top for color, and an industrial-style vintage cuff. The funky Cydwoq booties are an old favorite that I think I’ll wear until they fall apart.
Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

I’m new to your blog. I have a wicked melanoma-removal scar on my arm, too! Very glad you caught it in time. I was thinking of having a tree or vine tattooed on it, but now I just like it by itself. Coconut oil helps it heal beautifully. Be well.
So glad you caught that melanoma Patti. You have a badass badge of courage! I really like your unique booties a lot!
thanks Jude! xo
I love how you’re wearing that black COS dress with the sheer floral top. Those boots are divine, I bet you’ll be gutted once they fall apart … xxx
If you’re going to have a scar then make it a bad ass one! I always get looks of pity when people of a certain age spot my tell-tale hip replacement scar.
Love the way you’ve worn that black dress! xxx
So I guess we should call you Pamela Anderson with the badass barbed wire tat. LOL. Hope all is OK
I do love a black dress and yours has pockets!, that’s even better!
Lovely blouse, lovely colors and lovely booties!
besos
Oh wow, Patti, I hadn’t realised you’d had a melanoma removed – well done to catch it early. Not had one of those but I watch my skin and I’ve caught the early less troublesome cancers (twice) and other stuff as well. Heal well and you look fab as usual 🙂
Thanks so much for hosting x
That is such a good idea , to put a top over a dress to change it up.
Great look Patti and so you.

You look sensational, Patti! Love the LBD with the top and your very fun booties. I haven’t noticed any scar, but I am glad it was caught early! I admire your positive attitude, you are always inspiring! Much love!
I love making clothes work differently and your LBD worn as skirt was a great idea.
Have a great week, Patti!
I love to add things to a basic dress, love that you used an LBD with floral! You and I have consignment finds in common, it’s like a treasure hunt.

Ooooh you’re such a badass, Patti, tattoo or otherwise 😛 xoxo
Oh yeah, the amazing superpowers of black dresses to hide burrito sauce – and salad dressing and coffee too. Fabulous LBD WITH POCKETS – sold! It looks great with the florals on top. And funky boots. Your barbed wire is so badass!!! Thanks for the linkup.
Work the scar!!! What’s the new ‘kawaii sick’ look?? I didn’t even see it until I read it tbh! You look great! I always love a good LBD, too.
LOL! My role model is Pam Anderson in “Barb Wire.” Thanks for linking, stay fabulous, xo
Thanks for hosting, please do stop by on Thursday to join my #chicandstylish #linkup Jacqui Mummabstylish
Love how you styled this LBD! Cute boots!
No question the LBD is the one piece everyone should own. If you are to have nothing else a LBD is effortless and perfect for every event/occasion
I always find some inspiration for interesting ways to layer items when I visit you! Those boots are so cool.
I really need to start layering tops over my dresses — I love that look on you and so many of the other ladies.
I agree the LBD is so versatile and chic. I love yours and the way you styled it. I think adding a top with it is such a great idea to switch it up. Happy Monday!

A girl can never have too many black dresses, love this one on you , so good with the tee and those always perfect boots. Thank you so much for hosting Visible Monday, enjoy your week Patti.
Thank you for your friendship, dear Patti
I love those booties with your skirt and beautiful top – Spring ready for sure Patti!
LBD’s are great and yours ranks up there at the top! So flexible, as you said. I’ll have to look for the brand you mentioned when I’m shopping around. I love your description of it.
How happy I am your “tat” means you’re going to be okay. I don’t like that you had to get it, but I am relieved, as I know you are, that it was caught so early.
Hugs,
Sherry
Oh no, not Parisian but Scandi-Cool. That’s way better.
Ha, I was all excited that you’d gotten a tattoo, Patti! Lovely outfit – I have always loved those Cydwoq boots – I remember when you got them!
As always, thank you for hosting!
I am with you Patti! A little black dress can take you anywhere, day or night! In my opinion you can never have too many and this one looks fab on you!

I love your outfit! I hope your scar is healing well and you are doing well!
I really must try that. My daughter has worn a top over a dress and it makes it look like a skirt. Love your booties!
Thank you for hosting!

Can’t beat a dress with pockets! Thanks for hosting the link-up, I love seeing the great outfits – I’m hosting a link-up on Fridays starting this week and would love to have you join!

You do look cool, Patti. And so does you new “tatoo”. Gotta make the best of stuff, right?
I have a few little black dresses in the closet. I can’t get rid of one of them because each has a certain something that comes in handy. And I like how you put the chiffon top over yours. I think I’ll borrow that if you don’t mind 🙂
And a double thank you-for linking up for 1st Friday and being so faithful in being such a good linkup hostess!
The LBD certainly is super versatile, and layering a shirt over it is one of my fave tricks!!

I love black dresses too. They are never boring. Thank you for hosting and have a great week.
I love how you find such great second-hand pieces, Patti! I can’t wait for some more time this summer to sort through the local thrift stores for some finds! It takes time, but it’s so fun and such a thrill when you find a treasure!
Thanks for the link up!
