Instead of reading the fashion industry rags (exception: when getting a pedicure), I prefer getting style inspiration from my fellow bloggers, many of whom are over 40 and all of whom are 100% fabulous. There’s so much original dressing, mixed with practicality for women of a Certain Age, who have actual lives. These real life women’s authenticity shines through, as they dress to make themselves happy.
Here are some of my recent favorite looks for Fall Style, with emphasis on outerwear and accessories; go check these amazing women at their blogs too:
Susan of Une Femme has a gorgeous glow in this gold quilted coat. Susan calls it “sleek and not too puffy”. She draws the attention to her lovely face by flipping up the collar, and by adding a colorful abstract scarf. This woman knows how to toss on a scarf (check her tutorials).
Jessica of Elegantly Dressed and Stylish lives, like me, in a warmer climate and right now needs only this rich emerald blazer to stay warm. I love how she combined different greens here, then added a statement purse and over-the-knee boots. She inspires me to: add some velvet for Florida winter, and to mix shades with confidence.
Greetje of No Fear Of Fashion has a wonderful, varied wardrobe and lives in the Netherlands. I’m loving this simply-cut wrap coat, paired with a print scarf, killer bag, and hip sneakers. I look to Greetje for lots of cold-weather ideas. I love the way she adds dressy gloves, for example, and she doesn’t stick with matchy-matchy.
Alison of Wardrobe Oxygen was one of the first bloggers I ever read, starting about ten years ago. I have always enjoyed her down-to-earth writing and her willingness to take fashion risks. Right now, I am craving the geometric wrap/ruana she’s wearing below. It looks like perfection for a Fall day. The aviators look really cool too.
Dorrie of Senior Style Bible totally owns this look: a sheer bomber jacket (she lives in warm weather too) with slim jeans, slip-on Uggs shoes, awesome sunglasses and ring. Dorrie always looks fantastic and completely authentic, and she is 80+.

I do love the fact that I live in a climate where I can pull out the sweaters and coats for totally different looks!! If you ever get tired of the warmish weather in Florida, Patti, feel free to come visit me in Denver!

ps..I love all of these ladies!
I admit that I look forward to the colder weather just because I can wear jackets and sweaters again. All of these women look great.
Thanks so much Patti! I’m honored to be among these very stylish women.
My pleasure, Sue! xo
Deeply love that cape.
Great post
Heather
thanks Heather! xo
They all look great and like people I’d like to have over for coffee. Or a drink.
Sounds delightful, TOF! xo
Thank you Patti for including me! I have written today about the coats I wear for when it gets colder, I own a few more than is needed here and can wear a moto jacket for much of fall. Its getting into the coat zone soon. Love the other ladie’s examples, especially the gold color on Susan.
Happy weekend!
