You are on Instagram, yeah? I was a long-time holdout, feeling like I was already fully social-media’d out. And not having a great camera or an artistic eye, I feared being a Big Loser on that very visual site. All that worry was unfounded. It’s the friendliest place to hang out on the Web, it’s wonderful for keeping up friendships and starting new ones, and there is some amazing eye-candy.
And I love it that grown up women have made a strong presence on Instagram. A lot of us were/are cautious about putting ourselves out on some other social media, and dealing with negative comments. IG also provides us the quick fix of a picture-plus-caption, if we can’t squeeze in a full blog post. I hope fashion and lifestyle blogs do stay around, because I love the depth and breadth we can reach with them; I want IG to be a welcoming addition.
You no doubt know plenty of outstanding women you already follow on IG. Here are some fabulous grown-up women you may not have met yet, who inspire me and make me smile.
65 year old Sunny of Old Fashion Guru is a former fashion designer. Her photos and outfits are modern and hip, and she has a great beachy vibe.
Rhonda of Rohonda Designs was my partner in The Fierce 50 outreach last month. She is talented and lovely. She includes pics of her own dress designs as well as other modern styles in her IG. Rhonda’s wearing one of her own designs above, very nice.
Valerie of Visualise And Bloom is 50+ woman with a great outlook, fabulous hair, and pictures from around the world to share. You will enjoy her IG and her positivity.
Sabina of Oceanblue Style has a wonderful quirky style and a beaming personality. I had the pleasure to meet Sabina in NYC two years ago, and she is utterly delightful. Fluent in several languages and smart as a whip.
Suzi of Alternative Aging (what a great name) has a fresh, original, and artistic look to her IG page. I love her energy, her artful eye, and that terrific hair.
Diane – she really is 40+, hard to believe – has superb style, a great eye and an ebullient personality that comes through in her pictures. I had the pleasure of meeting Diane in Phoenix and I want to spend lots more time with her. Fun and fabulous.
Here’s my Instagram site, thanks for taking a look.
