Start with this lovely Anthropologie necklace |
The colors and simple design of the necklace inspired me to reach into my (imaginary) closet for rich fall colors (like the ones Pam is writing about this week). I love red, purple and deep yellow together, and I think all these pieces play together nicely.
I could add any of these pieces to my Fall/Winter wardrobe because they all suit my style, if not my immediate budget. Shoes and bag, for sure — get right over here into my closet.
The Vivienne Files did a fabulous, more extensive example of building an entire wardrobe from a single elegant scarf. Check here for the results, amazing!
This is so much fun. Have you ever started your daily outfit with a piece of jewelry or scarf? Share, please!
I plan my outfits around 10 pieces of jewelry, sometimes 😉
This is all so gorgeous!

Wow, that's an impressive accomplishment for sure, to build an outfit around the jewelry piece. I love your pics and would be curious to see what you will end up with. Great selection.
I love all the pieces you chose based on that stunning necklace! It's hard to create a look from a piece of jewelry–many times the way I visualize how an outfit will look in my head turns out completely different in real life!
i love these pieces. i do love a colorful scarf and feel like they really do pull together an outfit. i usually end with the scarf or piece of jewelry.

that necklace is to die for! I love the idea of starting with an accessory and basing an outfit off of that! It's such a great way to remember to wear my favorite pieces, sometimes I just forget I even own them!

Creating an outfit inspired by a jewelry sounds very interesting. I love the ensemble you´ve come up with. 🙂
Pam at Over50Feeling40 tried to comment but was thwarted by DISQUS:
"LOVE THAT NECKLACE and I have often done outfits around a
piece of jewelry that I love. Thank you so much for the mention…this
series has been more fun since some cooler weather blew in!! Have fun in
New York…I love NYC this tme of year and at Christmas the most!!"
That necklace is so pretty! I love creating outfits around accessories like this!

that's a great idea to start an outfit. I'm gonna try it. There are days I would stare at the wardrobe and not knowing where to begin even though I have a full wardrobe.Â

Beautiful pieces and you would look great in every one of them. Â I usually start my outfit with the hat, but really, it could start with anything that inspires me at the moment.
Wow! Those shoes need to be in my closet asap.
I don't really wear jewelry or scarves, but I often build around a pair of shoes or tights.
Yes, I am a logical person, very strongly in my personality tests! And you are an artist. I'd like to have more of your abilities in my toolkit : >
Patti, I can see you in all of these pieces. They are really pretty. Love the necklace!!! I do often start with what to wear with a necklace or bracelets.Â
I'm an out of the box thinker, so yes I do this quite often also! I think you may be a left brained thinker, so you do the more logical–am I right? Glad to see you had fun tho–its great to think from a different perspective!
The pants are magic! And they will never be mine : >  I need real pants with real belt-loops too.
I am LOL right now, because I very often start the outfit thinking I will use a major statement accessory like a scarf or necklace, yet after all the pieces are together on me, I decide it's way too much. Off goes the scarf or necklace that started the whole thing, and I wear the outfit that was perfectly coordinated to it.
I love the separates in your imaginary closet, especially the gray skirt and yellow sweater! But those jeans are scaring me – unless they are magical skin-bonding pants I don't see how they would stay up.
I have absolutely done this type of thing (dressing not shopping). I don't have any examples off the top of my head but I am constantly coordinating colors based on items in my closest (usually scarves).
YES! I do that quite a bit. Sometimes it's shoes, sometimes it's a scarf. Accessoreis are sometimes the best inspiration to build an outfit. The necklace you shared is gorgeous!  Heather
