I love my closet basics: jeans, pullovers, tees, blazers, skirts, knit dresses, and booties. These are the core of my wardrobe, always there when I need them, and they play well together. I usually keep these in black, gray, ivory, navy and olive, save for the occasional print skirt (like this and this). These are a few of my favorite things; I thank them for all the hard work.
But wait, there’s more! Woman does not live by neutrals and basics alone. I have scarves in riotous colors, and red lipsticks, and art-necklaces, often created by dear friends (like this and this). I like to wear a vintage necklace with a modern tee and jeans, or big peace sign earrings with a simple knit dress. Yesterday I wore olive jeans, a navy tee and a huge floral scarf/wrap.
I’m getting to know and love the veggie-plus-sauce or cake-plus-frosting concept (some say meat-and-potatoes but I’m a vegetarian). That is, most of my clothes (the cake) are go-together basics in colors and shapes that are easy to mix. It’s the add-ons (the frosting) that I experiment and play with. And they’re usually found easily at thrifts and consignments and street fairs, or on deep sale.

Stay fabulous,

It is fun, isn’t it? xo
Right on, Patti! Accessories multiply your closet! I am excited to see what you do next as a result of the style course. How fun!
Thanks Regina! xo
I kind of go with the idea of cake and cake with extra frosting. Ha ha! Oh…and some cookies…just in case.
That bee cuff is spectacular!

Don’t you love that bee? I thought of you when I saw it. xo
Ooooo, I love frosting! I have so many scarves and necklaces that I don’t wear very often, but I can’t get rid of them – too yummy.
Frosting, right out of the bowl – there’s nothing better. xo
