Visible Monday #50: A Bohemian Interlude

Welcome to Visible Monday #50! If you want to participate, it’s so
easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the simple
how-to.

I felt a Bohemian inspiration in my new wrap skirt, purchased at a street fair in New York. I love the prints, and it’s reversible! Two skirts for $15, what a thrifty shopper I am.

From a distance, I see that the black tee looks kind of stark against the skirt, and I think I’ll go with a lighter top next wearing. I do love the way the green sandals (Nine West, similar) pick up the green in the print, and the platforms even harmonize with the skirt. Matchy time!

The bangle was thrifted at the Humane Society Thrift, and the leaf pendant is from Forever21 (similar).

Batteries low, laser cat is recharging  : >
That’s the print on the reverse side of the skirt.
Too matchy? Or happily Visible?

Now, let’s see what you’re wearing, Visible Women!!

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple!

  1. What a find! I love both of these prints, and looking forward to seeing how you style this bad boy!

  2. This is one of your best visible looks. The bohemian skirt is a special item and the black tshirt is great for the contrast. You paired well with the shoes and I think this style suits you.

  3. I think you are correct that the black T-shirt is too stark. I think that whatever the neutral background color in the skirt would work OR a  top that has one of the dominent colors of the print. That skirt is a keeper and very chic on you. By the way I like what you did with you hair. lovely.

  4. Patti, you do bohemeian well and the sandals are the perfect compliment. Can't wait to see the other side of the skirt.
    Happy 50th Visible Monday!

  5. I love your skirt and just wanted to say you look gorgeous and refreshed after your trip. Glad to see you got to do some shopping. Have a wonderful day!

  6. Congratulations on your 50th Visible Monday! That skirt is made for you – vibrant, flowy, fun! I like the dark top with it. The dark-green platforms and that vivid blue dash of colour on the skirt near the hemline seem to balance it out, but I think this skirt would look fantastic with any colour top! Gorgeous. I laughed at your laser cat!  I love all your cat pieces on the mantelpiece.

  7. That's a great skirt Patti! I think it's called an infinity skirt or a magic skirt and you can wear it countless ways.  Great Buy!

  8. I love the NYC street fair silk skirt!  I have one that is similar and they're so easy to throw on and walk out the door in the summer.  And the shoes – happily visible!

  9. Great boho skirt, Patti!  I'd be thrilled to get 2 looks in 1.  I love the shoes with it too.

  10. Okay, I laughed my head off at "batteries low, laser cat recharging" – that is one of the funniest things I've seen in ages!

Patti, I love this skirt – it's so you! I used to have one like this…you could do all kinds of things with it, like pull up the shorter layer and make it into a top. I never did that, of course.

  11. I love the bright printed skirt and totally think the sandals go great with it. I think a green shirt may have gone perfectly matchy or a pink shirt to pull out some of the other great colors in the skirt. Thanks for another great Visible Monday.

  12.  I haven't seen the video – I'll try to youtube it, b/c I love to multi-task my clothes.

  13. I have two of those recycled sari skirts–one ankle length, and the other just below the knee. The longer one is 100% silk and is lovely to wear; the shorter one seems to be a silk rayon blend, with the shorter layer of chiffon. The fiber content on the skirts vary wildly because they are made of sari scraps of greater or lesser quality–but I have to say, I enjoy the all-silk skirt a lot more, and I think it has a more fluid, elegant drape.

I like the pattern mix on your skirt, and the clogs are beautiful with it! These skirts are great for travel–don't wrinkle much, easy to wash out in a hotel sink, and two looks for the price of one! Hope you enjoy yours.

  14. Hi Patti!

Love the skirt but you are right, wear something lighter on top next time
The sandals are very cool and not matchy matchy at all
The sandals look like a little secret your are hiding under the skirt

  15. Those magic skirts are fantastic – you can wear them a million ways! (or so it seems). I like the print(s) on yours.

  16. Patti, what a great skirt!  I'm always afraid of buying clothing when I'm at those NYC street fairs because there's no place to try on.  Kudos to you for being brave enough to take the plunge, anyhow.  It sure paid off!
(also, I love your rechargable kitty photo.  she's so cute!!!)

ps – Thank you for always stopping by when I've linked up.  You leave the sweetest comments that always make my day 🙂

  17. I love your skirt!  I can't tell…is it an overlay of a shorter skirt on top of a longer skirt or is it two different prints stitched together?  I might want to make one you see!

  18. Rock on, you Bohemian goddess! Love the flowy, creative outfit, and that curly hair is looking especially gorgeous today. But of course, you knew I would love this one, didn't you? 🙂

  19. This skirt looks like it matches your vibrant personality.  I think your kitty wants his belly rubbed…

  20. Oh I'm such a dork Patti – I was "multi-blogging" – my first comment was meant for Sacramento! YOUR skirt is fab, though, a definite thumbs up. I love how you've 1970s it out with the clogs. xo

  21. Soooo pretty! I love the floral prints, and the earrings and shoes complete the outfit beautifully (PS: can you teach my hubby to snap pics like this? Teehee). xo

  22. Wowwwwwwwwwww Patti, I want that skirt, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
    Gorgeour look.
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  23. Such a cute skirt. I love it…maybe try an olive T shirt with it to bring out the pretty greens?
I don't think the shoes are too matchy matchy. I think they make the outfit even more hip!

  24. That is beautiful fabric Patti and I would definitely wear those shoes with it. That print is some of my favorite patterns. I wish I could fill my entire house with fabrics like that!!

  25. You look gorgeous Patti!  I love your skirt, and I like it with a black top!
I love it when your pet joins in for the photo.

  26. I have a similar style skirt that I also got for $15 in Artesia CA. Is yours is silk or rayon? Mine is of suspect fibers and is a bit pilled. I love the colors, but it's a bit creepy to wear.

I really like your whole ensemble here… and the laser cat!!!!! Hahahahaha!

  27. Do you realize that Visible Monday is coming up on a YEAR of posts!! I love this skirt.  I have one very similar and it came with a video that showed how it could also be styled as a sundress.  Is yours like this?

  28.  no, not silk, but a nice lightweight silky woven poly.

  29. what a lovely skirt! I love the colours and the print mix, your shoes are perfect with it!  It looks like silk, but at $ 15 it can't be?

  30. This skirt is gorgeous, Patti…I love it!  You look stunning!

  31. Laser cat….LOLOLOLOL
I love the skirt–and I think the black works with the print!
Those shoes are AWESOME!!! They look adorable with the outfit!
