Visible/Inspiration Monday: Leaping Out of My Comfort Zone

Welcome to Visible Monday. Today, anyone who’d like to can post an outfit, accessory, hairstyle . . . anything that makes you feel more beautiful and visible! (See the easy guidelines below).

This week I’m linking to Inspiration Monday over at Two Birds‘ blog. It’s a good fit with Visible Monday. We get inspired to be visible; we like to be seen in our inspired outfits. The inspiration for this week was the breezy Sienna Miller in a floral dress and denim vest. Sienna is sporting some booties and a crossbody bag as well as (pricey, no doubt!) sunnies.

Here’s my take, and I am feeling very visible:

Tee: Gap; Denim Shirt: Faded Glory; Belt: GAP, thrifted;
Skirt: Alfani, thrifted; Boots: Aldo; Bag: TheSak

The skirt is a couple inches shorter than my usual, and the boots-in-summer look is not a common one for me (but I do like it). No sunnies inside the house – there has to be a way to tell Sienna and me apart  ; >

And because we all get bored with posing like well-bred models, it’s bust-out Monday:

The guidelines to participate in Visible Monday are so simple!

  1. Any Monday, whoever wants to can join in! Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day.
  2. Include a link to Not Dead Yet Style somewhere in your post.
  3. Go to the bottom of this post and click on this cute little link:
In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!

Important tips! 1) Choose “Crop” before you choose “Select” — as soon as you choose “Select”, the picture is loaded to the blog. 2) If you don’t like the way your picture looks, click on the little red “x” to delete and start over.

  9. Patti, Love your bust out pose…those are much more fun!  I love that you're also linking up for inspiration monday.  I love these monday link-ups.  My daughter had oral surgery today so I'm still working on my post.  I hope to have it up soon, in between giving her an ice pack every twenty minutes!  I really like your take on the look.  I'm not a boots in summer girl either but I plan on becoming one because it looks great on you!  Debbie  http://thriftygirlvintage.com

  10. Patti, we have to stick together on this comfort zone thing.

  14. Thanks for stopping by Kathryn! I know, the boots in summer are surely not everyone's cup of tea  : >

  15. Paula – thanks for coming by. You could definitely add your "House-dress" (not a housedress) pic to Visible Monday – it looks great on you.

You're right about the South and boots – I can't wait to wear them with tights when (if) it gets cool.

  16. Thanks Anne – the boots did not last the whole day, I must confess. Thanks so much for adding your pic; love that blouse.

  17. Yes the Inspirations are usually casual, aren't they? Thanks for coming by, Joanie!

  18. Thanks Pam! The boots *are* a little uncomfortable in August. : >

  19. Hi Patti,
You look so cute! That length of skirt is great and lengthens your legs!  Your ability to make great outfits makes me wish I had a better brain for it 🙂
I had 2 sickie kiddies home today.  Haven't even gotten out of my pj's 🙂  And sewing pj's for the kids so right now, hating flannel and wishing I had gone out in my favourite red lippy and posted a pic instead.

PS the new pose is amazing too *wink*

  20. Patti, This is a great look for you…you should step out of that comfort zone more often.  It will be a long while before we see boots in Texas…but this looks fabulous!!  Way to be VISIBLE!!

  21. Patti!  You hit it out of the park!  I think I may like your version better than Sienna's.  It's much more real world wearable.  You are definitely visible!  Big hug to you!  ~Serene

  22. I love this skirt length on you. the whole outfit looks great. I would love to participate in the two birds challenge but it's always too casual for work. I could probably dress it up a bit. Hmm. We'll see.

  23. Good for you!  So bold!  Love the belted vest, especially, and the skirt too.  (And boots are my first love, so you get extra points for daring to wear them in the Florida heat).

  24. Patti~ok so I am bummed.  I did this look a while back and did a post on it–so sort of dont want to do it again.  but I am missing the visible monday thing!
But you look great–and this has been a go-to look for me all summer.  I like the boots in the summer–especially for those in the south that dont get to wear boots.  For mee? I'm sick of boots so dont wear them in the summer.

  25. The skirt length is great on you!  Love the denim vest with the floral print, and the boots. Nicely done!
