I love a little black dress. Really, I could wear one almost every day, with just a little tweaking here and there. A black dress goes with everything, is always in style, and doesn’t show the burrito sauce.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

The black dress I wore today is a second-hand number I found on eBay for about $25. It’s by COS, one of my new favorite brands (mostly secondhand) for basics. I like their minimalist silhouettes; they come off as a Parisian look to me although the company is Swedish. This dress has cap sleeves, an easy fit, and pockets, and a light fabrication for Florida hell Summer season.

My new melanoma-removal scar looks like a cool barbed-wire tattoo. I’m such a badass.

I added a sheer floral top for color, and an industrial-style vintage cuff. The funky Cydwoq booties are an old favorite that I think I’ll wear until they fall apart.

The oh-so-groovy pockets on the dress look a little lumpy here. They are more streamlined IRL.

Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple:

  1. I’m new to your blog. I have a wicked melanoma-removal scar on my arm, too! Very glad you caught it in time. I was thinking of having a tree or vine tattooed on it, but now I just like it by itself. Coconut oil helps it heal beautifully. Be well.

  2. So glad you caught that melanoma Patti. You have a badass badge of courage! I really like your unique booties a lot!

  3. I love how you’re wearing that black COS dress with the sheer floral top. Those boots are divine, I bet you’ll be gutted once they fall apart … xxx

  4. If you’re going to have a scar then make it a bad ass one! I always get looks of pity when people of a certain age spot my tell-tale hip replacement scar.
Love the way you’ve worn that black dress! xxx

  5. Oh wow, Patti, I hadn’t realised you’d had a melanoma removed – well done to catch it early. Not had one of those but I watch my skin and I’ve caught the early less troublesome cancers (twice) and other stuff as well. Heal well and you look fab as usual 🙂

Thanks so much for hosting x

  9. Work the scar!!! What’s the new ‘kawaii sick’ look?? I didn’t even see it until I read it tbh! You look great! I always love a good LBD, too.

  15. LBD’s are great and yours ranks up there at the top! So flexible, as you said. I’ll have to look for the brand you mentioned when I’m shopping around. I love your description of it.

How happy I am your “tat” means you’re going to be okay. I don’t like that you had to get it, but I am relieved, as I know you are, that it was caught so early.

    Hugs,

  18. I have a few little black dresses in the closet. I can’t get rid of one of them because each has a certain something that comes in handy. And I like how you put the chiffon top over yours. I think I’ll borrow that if you don’t mind 🙂

  19. I love how you find such great second-hand pieces, Patti! I can’t wait for some more time this summer to sort through the local thrift stores for some finds! It takes time, but it’s so fun and such a thrill when you find a treasure!

    Thanks for the link up!
