There’s not much resemblance between Dame Helen and me, but I did love her Academy Awards gown (see my post about it here). I admire her apparent grace, great posture and air of confidence. Those are available for all of us on any given day, so today I am channeling Dame Helen. On a tiny budget. In Melbourne, Florida.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

This knit ombre maxi dress by Go Couture was thrifted at the Molly Mutt for about $4. It’s soft and easy to wear, and makes me stand up straight. I added a vintage silver brooch at the waist, but I had no access to the sapphire/diamond necklace Helen wore on the red carpet

The vintage green bangle is good for a shot of bright color. Then I was ready for the red carpet pizza parlor down the block.

I love the shading of the dress from deep navy to dark purple.

Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple:

But I have to tell you, you are maybe even better than Helen in this. It’s much thriftier, and I’m loving the idea of the brooch where you place it!!!

  17. What a great idea to put a brooch at the waist. This is a wondeful HM style steal. I just dropped in to see what you were up to with you Visible Monday look. I didn’t do anything this week because I decided I really needed to sew. That happens once in a while so it’s best just to give in to it,
Yea, that necklace would be hard to source about anywhere! Take care, xox

  18. As my weekend wear was sadly lacking, I’ll share my International Women’s Day Superhero outfit. Lovely dress, Patti! You look fabulous, and I’m sure Dame Helen would be honoured.

  19. Helen Mirren is the epitome of Grace and so are you! Gorgeous, sleek outfit and fabulous on the color wheel!

  20. Love the ombré dres on you ! You wear it with true grace and style. Who needs a red carpet anyway? I do have a thing for sapphires though…more accessible than you would think, btw…but that necklace, wow!
Fabulous bargain, you rock it like its couture!
    Happy new week!
