I suspected dressing would become a physical challenge at some age, but I thought it would be about 20 years away. Heh. I know and appreciate that there are lots of people my age and younger who have permanent disabilities, and have struggled with daily chores for decades.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

I’m running out of clothes I can pull on over my Frankenstein arm. Fortunately, I found this navy knit midi dress in the back of the closet and stretched it on. It’s a simple shift by Joe Fresh (similar) and thrifted at the Molly Mutt. It’s rather plain and makes a good canvas for accessorizing.

I added another easy-on piece, this sheer fly-away print top by Chaus (sim), thrifted on a trip to St. Petersburg. The faux pearls (sim) add a dressy touch, and the Echo scarf is a bold cover to my wrist hardware. Ankle-strap shoes (sim) are summery, but oh hey, it’s still 89 degrees  : >

Below is my haughty face, almost never seen in real life, except by the cable guy, who won’t come over and hook up the internet. Don’t they know who we are? (Yes, one of millions without cable access in Florida).

challenge

Only three days till wrist hardware is removed!!

Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

  3. Patti, you are a champ! You look like a million dollars, despite all the challenges you’ve been facing for the last few weeks. Wishing you a happy and healthy wrist, and bounteous cable in the near future!

  4. It is always challenging to style around things like that. A couple of years ago when I broke my foot, all of my photos were from the knees up. Maybe you do a series where you hold a railing and crop there (just kidding) you look wonderful and hope you heal up soon, Patti. xoxo A

  5. Well its 3 days to party time! You’ll have to celebrate you contraption removal. I do love how you’ve styled it with the Echo scarf though. And the blue print blouse is very lovely. That’s a great color for you.
We got our power back after a few days, but didn’t get internet till just recently, Irma has wreaked havoc on my internet business. But I made out better than a lot of others, so I thank my lucky stars.
Will you have to do any special exercises/physical therapy after you get that thing off?

BTW, that dress you sent Suzanne is fabulous 🙂

  11. I have to say you have been styling your wrist with panache! Your haughty look is too cute. I hope you get your cable back soon!

  12. I never think of wearing a top over a dress. Fabulous idea. I’m glad you reserve the haughty look only for the cable guy! LOL!

  13. Patti, you are a star and the cable guy should know it. Thank you so much for continuing Visible Monday through the most difficult of times. Blue and you are clearly made for each other. Hope those three days pass quickly.

  14. Three days? Woo hoo!!! Better hold off the booze with the Visibles this time in preparation for the big cast-off party. I love how you put tops on top of your dresses. I keep forgetting that’s a possibility in my closet. This looks great. It’s still 89 there? I don’t know how you manage to look so cool. I’m glad Irma is GONE!

  15. You look lovely in this outfit. Even the wrist cast coverage looks great! Feel better soon. I cross my fingers that the cable guy comes soon.

  16. You find ways to look absolutely wonderful even though your clothing choices are limited at the time. You look fabulous in blue! I wrote about blue and my history with it on the blog this week.

Thanks for the link up & have a good week!

  17. There must be a mix up in communications with the cable company … you are a rock star, after all! Still, I applaud your perseverance to continue blogging with literally one hand tied behind your back (well, almost literally). You are weathering the storm with great style as always. I’m looking forward to hearing about your release from confinement and about your next steps in regaining full function.

  18. Blue is such a wonderful colour on you.

But you have electricity now right? I hope so!

Everyone always takes those little details for granted, like getting dressed by yourself.

I know you will be a happy camper when your cast is removed.

    bisous
    Suzanne

  19. Oh Patti your haughty face is like every picture of me when I’m not expecting my photo to be taken…!! heehee

Well done on still managing to bring VM to the masses, I love your creativity with the “Frankenstein arm” 😉

  20. Oh, physical challenges, I can relate… for the past couple of weeks I’ve been living in gym pants and loose t-shirts. And I’m running out of clothes that I can just pull on and off without any contortinist skills to reach zippers or something…
BTW, that’s a very pretty top you’re wearing, love the print!

  21. Yay Patti! Only 3 more days and your wrist will be free! You’ve done a beautiful job incorporating it into your look but I know you’re ready to be done and you won’t miss it. Hoping your cable gets restored soon!
    xo,
