I already boasted about my thrift find of the week: A 1990’s, fully sequined swing jacket, with tags on! The tags are Neiman Marcus, so there’s that too. Some sparkly woman must have decided this was just a little too much sparkle for her.
Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post. |
It is super-dressy by nature, so I think I’ll be styling it with more casual pieces, lest I get that Grandmother of the Bride vibe. Here I combined the jacket with my AllSaints cropped trousers (similar), a plain black tee (sim) and a fabulous necklace created by Suzanne Carillo (link). I’d welcome your styling suggestions!
The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple:
- Whoever wants to can join in! Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day.
- Include a link to Not Dead Yet Style somewhere in your post.
- Go to the bottom of this post and click on the InLinkz button “Add Your Link”. It should open a new page.
- In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!
Oh hey! Not Dead Yet Style is on Instagram! Please check it out when you have a moment: Instagram.

First, must apologise for being late to the party but I bring fizz and cake to make up!
I wouldn’t change a thing about your outfit, Patti. The sparkly jacket is allowed to shine in all it’s glory against the black and the dressed down look is totally right. Avoid the mother of the bride look at all costs!!!

Life is short. Why not sparkle? 🙂 You look fabulous!
Such a fabulous statement piece and you’ve styled it with just the right vibe. After seeing yours earlier this week on IG, I almost bought myself a sparkly jacket at a local thrift store today but I passed because I knew I wouldn’t it justice like you have with yours. Thanks for your inspirations and for helping us stay Visible!

Don’t you just love such thrift finds – great quality, and brand new item that fits you and your style! Really great look, Patti – elegant, ready for anything!
WOW, what a find! Love the idea of this sequined stunner with skinny black jeans and lace-up boots or flats. Also pairing it with a pencil skirt or slim sheath to set off the swinginess of the jacket?
Oh my gosh Patti! You won’t believe this..I actually purchased that jacket at Neimans, (love it by the way!) couldn’t find a place to wear it and consigned it, with the Neiman Tags on it. I’d love to think somehow it made it to you. I know that’s a long shot, but how cool would that be?? Anyhow, I wish I had your vision at the time; you styled it up fabulously!

Lets sparkle Patti. I love contrasting sequins with basics like you do here. I got a lobster sweatshirt. Lobster is blue sequins. Just imagine….:) No granny styling here, cool boots you are wearing with it. <3 Guess what: my NYC week is coming up….yay! Thanks for hosting and happy Monday. xo Sabina
Are you modeling in your new home Patti? You look the schtar, that’s for sure. How about with a bathing suit? Or a house dress? Or a …
Hi Patti! Love the sparkle, you shine! I do like how you are wearing it with the cropped pants and those fabulous boots! Even paired with some dark denim, you would still have a fun look!

That awesome sparkly jacket matches your awesome sparkly personality!
I can see why you love that jacket. It is so pretty and timeless! I love it! Peace! Cheryl
That jacket is complete perfection! And yes, the very best way to style sequins, especially lots of them is with casual pieces. Love this!

What a great find that blazer was! Sequins work best as casual attire as you’ve proved beautifully! xxx
Hey Patti! I was thinking that maybe this jacket would be nice layered under a vest. That would tamp down on some of the sparkly but you would still have sparkly arms and maybe it would peek out a bit around the collar or a bit in front. I’m very curious to see how you wear it since I find sparkly clothes and even sparkly jewelry makes me look very dressed up. Thanks for hosting as always!
