What I Wore: Woman In Black

I love a wrap dress, thank you Diane von Furstenberg. After seeing The gorgeous Bella in her Karina wrap dress, I had to order one right away (the Rita, see it below). Until I receive it, I rely on my closet.

I found today’s sleeveless wrap dress at Goodwill for under $5. It’s by City DKNY and has pale pink trim, love that. It’s completely open on top so I layered a Gap tee underneath. I’m wearing a silky art scarf (Venus Rising From The Sea), tucked in to make a crafty vest.

Oh, yeah, my best new boot finds! These are by J Crew and they’re the softest, most supple leather evah. They were only $20 at the thrift store, and needed $10 in re-heeling to make them perfect. I am a happy woman.

Happy Thursday to you all!

  3. Lovely boots! That's how you do it, lots of thrifted finds with a dash of retail. I'm looking forward to seeing you in your Karina. I've got one on my future purchases "wish list" 🙂

  4. Oh I love that painting.  I remember visiting it everyday when I was in Florence.  And you have a scarf of it!  How cool.  I see you've lost your head over it.  And great boots too.  Not to mention the wrap dress.  My oh my.

  5. Happy Thursday to you too!  Love this look and the boots are incredible.  Can't wait to see you in your Karina dress.

  6. Very elegant! That dress is a find and I love how you put that beautiful scarf with it!

  7. Super chic, Patti, and the dress and boots were bargains! You don't need a new dress after all! (I know, I know, it's never really about NEED, is it?!) Beautiful colours in the scarf. xxxx

  8. Wow!  You will wear this equally well about a bazillion ways.  Beautiful.

  9. Botticelli is one of my fav artists of the Renaissance period.  I had the good fortune to be able to see this Venus pic in Italy – it's huge!  I always call this painting "Venus on the half shell" .. lol.

  10. You've inspired me to hit the thriftstore today…love your style and thrifty wit!

  11. For some reason I've never quite gotten on board with wrap dresses.  It probably started with an unflattering fit or something…  Maybe time to try again.  Always good if it's a thrift find—test the waters and all that on the cheap.  Great boots!!  You are lucky with the shoes 🙂

  12. Patti Patti Patti….one of my favorite outfits you have featured.
Love the scarf.  I mean really love and desire the scarf!
We love our Goodwill don't we?  So many wonderful treasures to be found.

  13. That dress is a great base for adding fabulous accessories! I love that scarf & do enjoy finding great footwear in charity shops donated because the previous owners were too lazy to get them repaired! x

  14. Oh, awesome thrift score!

And I love wrap dresses, but they really don't suit me, given my basically-straight figure. Oddly, I get lucky with the occasional faux-wrap dress, though, which makes no sense, but there you have it.

Also: Pink and black is the best colour combination ever, in my book.

  15. So jealous of your boot find!

    Wrap dresses are the best.

    That scarf is so cool!

  16. Seeing that black Karina dress tempts me VERY VERY much! I had only seen Bella's printed version and hadn't noticed the cute yoke/retro styling on the shoulders. Not sure if a wrap would work for me (I've got a post-op special challenge) but maybe someday things will get "balanced" on my torso.

  17. What a coincidence, I just shopped my closet and decided that my chocolate brown wrap dress was going to Europe with me. Boots or pumps and sweater coat will take me through March. Your scarf is lovely.

  18. You know me, Patti, a super Goodwill proponent and you prove once again…Goodwill works.  Great find!!  And I love the boots!
