You can do so much with the classic prints: stripes and checks. Make them small, or enormous, classic or edgy, mix them with florals or abstracts – stripes and checks will always be in style. And the women of Visible Monday can be counted on to give you inspiration.
As always, the first tip is: wear these prints the way you love them , and own your look. Confidence is all.
And there’s always room in my closet for a striped/checked piece:
Jill of Doused In Pink took the classic route and looks terrific. A simple cardigan and slim trousers looks like more fun with a striped tee. Great platform loafers too.
Jennie of of A Pocketful Of Polka Dots goes bold with her pop-art houndstooth check skirt. The skirt has tons of personality and it holds its own with hot pink textured tights. I think Jennie’s purse look a little bit like her!
Melanie of Bag And A Beret is a famous mixer of prints and colors. Here she chose a subtle vertical-striped shirt and paired it with amazing print trousers. Melanie is highly experienced at playing with prints, but just about anyone can mix a stripe with a floral (same color family) and look fab.
Trina of of Teatime With Trina shared a poignant post this week at Visible Monday. Her writing is so affecting, and I had a hurt in my heart for her friend. Her sweater made me smile, though, with its spirited mix of stripes. I think I see polka dots peeking out at the bottom of the sweater, extra points.
I am playing along, with a new-to-me jacket that looks like it wants to be checked. It’s more of an abstract pattern, but I am counting it, because I am the boss of my clothes:
How do you prefer your stripes and checks? xo

This is a very updated and professional look Patti. I really like the interesting print of the jacket and the little pleated skirt is darling!
Super cute looks Patti! I rarely wear stripes, but I love how Trina mixed hers up with that fun mixed media sweater. All these looks are fabulous!
