Visible Monday: A Baby Step Outside My Comfort Zone

No, not rompers or hot pants. I courageously bought (thrifted) a yellow blouse, wore it out and liked it. For a recent Everybody, Everywear challenge, we all wore yellow — and I griped about it. But a few of you said the yellow was flattering. I was feeling adventurous so I decided to either go bungee jumping or try a yellow blouse. Blouse!

I like this very pale and “cool” shade of yellow against my skin. I also like the cut of the blouse; it’s form fitting but not tight. It was very cool, comfort wise, with a light cotton skirt and bare legs. I amped up the Arm Party for the upcoming Bloggers Do It Better challenge. I like the combination of silver and gold tone bracelets along with the chunky bangle I just picked up at the Humane Society Thrift.

I wore this to go to the movies and lunch with my husband. We saw “Cowboys and Aliens,” a fun if not momentous movie. Why are aliens always bugs covered in slime? Aren’t there any kitten aliens? And why doesn’t Daniel Craig live next door to me and do some yard work?

Blouse: Ann Taylor, thrifted, Skirt: Studio West, Belt: Liz Claiborne
 Shoes: Nine West, Cat: King
Bangle: thrifted, Bracelets: local artist; Target; thrifted ages ago

The guidelines to participate in Visible Monday are so simple!

  1. Any Monday, whoever wants to can join in! Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day.
  2. Include a link to Not Dead Yet Style somewhere in your post.
  3. Go to the bottom of this post and click on this cute little link:
In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!

Important tips! 1) Choose “Crop” before you choose “Select” — as soon as you choose “Select”, the picture is loaded to the blog. 2) If you don’t like the way your picture looks, click on the little red “x” to delete and start over.

  1. Yeah, for the yellow blouse–it is a nice fit. And double-yeah on the stacked bracelets/arm party! Sorry I didn't participate this week. I spent the weekend grading papers and was pretty much wiped out.

  2. Love your bracelets! I have always liked black, white, and yellow together. You did a great job of taking a step outside your comfort zone.
    Handsome kitty.
We were going to see Cowboys and Aliens, but my asthma flared and I did not feel like getting out. Two of my favorite genres – western and science fiction.

  3. I love the bracelets together! That's my next fashion tackle, mixing silver and gold. That has always been a no-no in the past (like mixing black & brown which I just did last week). Breaking the rules!!!! Love it!

  4. Hi! I found you today through Une Femme and think this is a great idea.

I will put this on my calendar for next Monday and plan on participating.

I like your fitted blouse – so flattering on you.

    Have a great Monday!

  5. Patti, I think that yellow is very flattering on you. Have you ever had your colors done? I'd guess you are a "Summer."

  6. Hi Patti,

I posted a comment earlier but have no idea where it went… I probably didn't hit enter… I think that shade of yellow is lovely on you and maybe a softer tone s what you need and perhaps not a Crayola yellow 🙂

I hit the wrong thumbnail to show you my visible items but since it's my baby boy's second birthday, he's wanting to be visible too!

  7. I love stacking bracelets and the cool yellow looks great on you! I probably won't see Cowboys and Aliens…more what my husband and sons like!! Have a great Monday!!!

  8. Hi Patti, Thanks for stopping by my blog – I am enjoying catching up with you. I loved reading your Beatles post as I live in Liverpool and The Beatles are still a massive tourism trade in my humble city.

  9. Alas, I can't answer any of your very good questions! But you are looking great in that outfit. Stacked bangles are such a joy, the skirt is truly striking, and I do think that cool yellows flatter you. Happy Visible Monday.

  10. Thanks Serene! You look fantastic.

Beryl, thanks for reminding me of that movie. Kim was definitely not slime : )
Please submit a picture, if you can!

  11. I love your skirt. And that hand crafted bracelet is wonderful. One of my favorite films is "My Stepmother is An Alien" with Kim Bassinger as the Alien – not a kitten, but no slime either.
