Three fabulous beauty finds, on the cheap. I am not a major makeup snob, nor am I an expert by any stretch. I have only one small zip-case of makeup in the bathroom, and a smaller one in my purse. I do love to try new things, though, especially inexpensive new things. Here’s three I just picked up, that are really worth their price, and more, from a cruelty-free and vegan brand:
E.l.f. Liquid Matte Lipstick. The website says: “This liquid lipstick makes a statement, delivering an intense pop of rich, matte pigment to your pout.” Hah, right to the pout. Srsly, it’s a color-dense, smooth and hydrating lipstick, and it comes in ten shades. I love the Mauvelous shown above. It doesn’t last all day, of course, but it makes it a few hours, and it’s fun to re-apply. I’m definitely going to get more colors.
“Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss . . . . But every once in a while, you find someone who’s iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare.”
-Wendelin Van Draanen
E.l.f. Putty Blush. The claim on this cream blush is: “This lightweight but buildable putty to powder blush blends seamlessly into skin. Infused with argan oil and vitamin E for some added nourishment, this silky smooth, buildable formula will give you a flushed-from-within glow. “
I don’t know about that flushed-from-within glow (I’m 66!) but this is a great any-day blush. It’s more pigmented than powder formulas, and finishes to a pale rosy pink on my fair skin. You can use your fingers, or a beauty sponge, or a short brush.
E.l.f. Holy Hydration! Skin Cream. My skin keeps getting dryer every year, and it’s been a challenge to find effective moisturizers. CeraVe makes some well-formulated ones, and they are my go-to for face care. This new addition from e.l.f. is a lovely alternative. The claims: “It’s packed with skin-loving ingredients that even out skin tone and replenish lost moisture for a firmed up, bouncy complexion.” Again, I don’t know about bouncy, but I like the whipped texture and the moisturizing factor is high.
“Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.”
-Franz Kafka
It’s fun to indulge for so little $$$. Have you tried this brand? Any reviews you are willing to share?
Stay fabulous, xo

Patti, I always like to find new cosmetics through personal recommendations rather than ads. Thank you for sharing your opinions on these products. Upon closer inspection, I may give one or two of them a try.

I have heard of Elf cosmetics but never tried them but with such low prices it will be fun to experiment. I also very much liked your Kafka quote as I so often see beauty in nature and Art and that must be what keeping my heart, spirit and soul young.
