I think black and white are always chic, year-round and at any age. It’s a fashion combination that lends itself to pattern mixing, layering, and shots of color.

This black and white maxi skirt is one of the many vintage goodies I’ve purchased from fellow bloggers. In this case, it’s from the gorgeous Vix of Vintage Vixen. I love the sweep of it and the Greek Key hemline. The checked blazer is also thrifted, and it’s by Trina Turk. A bright green bangle adds some color, and a black-and-white bangle would be fab too.
Below, black and white done in black and white filter. I see the outfit would be better with a lower neckline blouse, maybe a pussy-bow. The magic of photography as a teaching tool! I’m showing off my Doc Martens – love a good boot with a feminine skirt.
Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

I agree, black and white looks always perfect together. Have a merry Christmas. Love, Kirsten x
This is one of those outfits that will be beautiful forever. The skirt is particularly unique. I like the fret work in the border print bottom.
thanks, Jude – it’s a really fun skirt to style, xo
what a fun skirt – love how you mixed it all up! Happy holidays.
Great pattern mixing Patti! Love the maxi.
Great combination! Fun and elegant at the same time.
WOW! I love this outfit just the way it is! But a blouse with a bow or a fun scarf can provide a different feel and maybe even more pattern mixing, which is brilliant here in your new combination. I also love a solid boot with a feminine skirt, great contrast! <3
Groovy pattern mixing! I’m really digging that you went with brown boots.
Fabulous look Patti! Love the black and white photo! My favourite colour combo, although black and white are not actually colours. 🙂 I’ve gone on two vacations now, packing only black and white, so easy to mix and match with a minimum of pieces, leaving room for new purchases which always go with black and white. I added pops of red and also turquoise on my NYC adventure.
Thank you for hosting! Merry Christmas!
I love your jacket, and your lovely curvy hair. 🙂
Incredible black+white pieces my friend. I especially love the gorgeous maxi skirt!
Merry Christmas!! <3 Ada.
I love your jacket Patti, and your black and white outfit is just darling, have a very blessed Holiday season!

Patti, this is so stylish! I love the mix of black and white patterns. Your skirt is elegant and the jacket a beautiful piece. One of my goals is to do more pattern mixing in the new year 😉
I’m totally in love with your vintage maxi skirt, and there’s some awesome pattern mixing going on with the blazer! Would love to see it with a pussy bow blouse! xxx
Fabulous look! Love that skirt! I am wearing black and white today too!
Oh wow! What a fabulous example of print mixing! I love that skirt!
Patti, I am a huge fan of black and white. You can never go wrong with it. This outfit is great. I love the proportions with the maxi skirt and the fitted jacket…which is so so amazing, by the way!
Great pattern mixing! An outfit that looks very high-end and designer. Love it!
That blazer screams good quality – no wonder, Tine Turk! I think your idea about a pussy bow blouse sounds like a great one, can’t wait to see it.
Every time you wear that skirt you make it look completely different. it looks wonderful with the blazer! xxx
What a fantastic jacket! I love the classic design!

Your outfit is so cool, I had to pin it! Thanks for hosting the party!
It is seldom that you go wrong with black and white and your outfit is a excellent example of this classic combo. I love the mix of patterns on the skirt and Greek Key along the hem is quite a statement. I also like the addition of brown boots, they add the edge of the other very elegant look
I think this looks fabulous as is, Patti!!!
The green bracelet just made me smile!!
Black and white is always perfect, you’re right! Love your look and your black and white photo of your black and white outfit! 😀
Loving this! The black and white in the two patterns looks fabulous. Not surprised you got that cool vintage maxi from Vix. She has great stuff. And though I usually default to red to accent my b&w outfits, I really like that touch of green from the bangle. I’m going to have to remember to try green next time.
Black and White always works. Thanks for the link up …have a great week and Merry Christmas!
That skirt is so elegant! And versatile, I bet it looks great as part of a hot weather outfit, too.
I really like the black and white. In the pet blogging world, we would have a Black and White Wednesday and that use to be one of my favorite posts to do.
Great pattern mixing and I really like the two different sleeve lengths. That is something I am going to remember.
