Among the supposed no-no’s for women over 50 (call me thisclose to 60) are graphic tees and girly-girly stuff. Too bad, so sad. I am enjoying my cat tee (ASOS, similar) and trusty old tulle skirt (Old Navy, similar). I bet oxfords (sim) with skirts are frowned upon too, not being “Classic” enough for us old broads.
I wouldn’t have worn this to the office or to a business meeting, but it’s great for singing lessons. I do have rules (nothing too short, too tight, or too low-cut) but they’re just for me. I love seeing a woman my age killing it with a mini skirt or daring cleavage.
This article from HuffPo (“What Not to Wear After Age 50: The Final Say“) got a lot of attention at my Facebook page this week, and it’s worth a read. The author gives no wardrobe advice, you see, only items we are too old to “wear.” Examples: the weight of the world; shame and regret; and (I reserve the right) Resting Bitch Face. Lots of over-50 women agreed, although one took the time to comment: “This article is stupid.”
