Visible Monday #30: I’ve Got a Peaceful Easy (Knit) Feeling

Welcome to Visible Monday #30! If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the simple how-to.

Some days you want to be visible and completely comfortable. That’s me today. The utter comfort of a vintage knit skirt, paired with a slouchy top and wedge boots — ahhh.

I see from my pictures that I am breaking the “rules” by not showing leg between my slim skirt and my boot-tops. My skirt should be two inches shorter. I could remedy this next time by just rolling at the waist (I know! Just like when we were 16 years old!).

I added a colorful scarf to brighten up the look, and practiced some techniques I learned from Une Femme’s videos (via FabOverFifty). Thanks, Une Femme. I still need more practice but I am improving. The boots are thrifted for about $7, and they are vegan. I struggle with my love of leather accessories while maintaining a vegetarian diet; when I find cute non-leather shoes like these I do snatch them up.

Sweater: GAP; Skirt: vintage, thrifted; Boots: Nicole, thrifted
Two odd kitties approve of my relaxed look

I can’t wait to see what you are wearing today!

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple!

  1. Any Monday, whoever wants to can join in! Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day.
  2. Include a link to Not Dead Yet Style somewhere in your post.
  3. Go to the bottom of this post and click on this cute little link:

In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!

  1. Patti, thank you for hosting, glad to be back as a part of visible Monday.  Your outfit is perfect on you, combining comfort, vintage and great color.  I love the kitties in your photo and your beautiful shiny floors.  Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo

  2. I like how your skirt falls over the top of the boots!  And your scarf is beautiful, so another great outfit!

  3. Hello Patty, I am so inspired by you, that I would love to do something like your visible Monday, but once a month, and with my own name, to encourage Spanish bloggers to link more with each other, as well as overseas. But I do not know how do you go through the technical process. Could you please help me out here?
    Thank you soooooooooo very much

  4. good question! I tell myself that to produce leather shoes and bags, an animal has already "made the sacrifice" for food, and that the leather is a by-product. But I am not sure this is true. So I do continue to eat vegetarian but go both ways on leather. Not consistent, I know.

  5. Interesting conflict, Patti–your love of leather accessories and your being a vegetarian. What thoughts actually go on for you when you are agonizing over this apparently irreconcilable loyalties? Curious.

  6. I love that you added that scarf…great pop of color. I also love that although you are wearing some nice, comfy, easy knits, you still look put together and neat. Lovely as always Patti:)

  7. I really like this look on you, Patti! I don't mind the length of the skirt with the boots.

I am a die-hard leather fan, whether it's in shoes or clothes. It just lasts so much longer, and I love the quality and feel of it.

  8. Patti, you have such wonderful style! I like your outfit just like it is. The skirt looks perfect on you. The way you tied your scarf is my all time favorite. I get compliments when people see it. I am sure you did too.

  9. I say, cover those boots if you wanna. You look smashing, and anyway, I was pretty young, but I do remember skirts that covered boot tops in the seventies, and it looked cool then, too.

  10. There's a rule about skirts, skin and boots???   i love the outfit-especially the punch of the scarf!
I noticed the kitties admiring you right off! LOL

  11. Loving the look of the relaxed top with a slim skirt…a great finishing touch with the colorful scarf!
    Have a wonderful week Patti!

  12. patti!  I used une Femme's video too for a scarf
     Brilliant!
I dont know about that rule~For a skirt below the knee, I think it looks better over the boots.  The broken rule looks better!

Love the 2 cute little kitties looking at you~

  13. Your scarf is beautiful! I need to play around with scarf ideas more!  Will definitely check out that link.  And I had no idea about that boot rule.  I am probably breaking "rules" left and right and not even knowing it!   Lol!

  14. Oh don't worry about "rules"! Your outfit looks lovely. The colours of your scarf are delightful and add a lift to the neutrals. xxx

  15. So now you are worried about breaking rules!  Silly girl!  Rules are for boys!
I love your knit skirt.  And you too know how to style a scarf!

  16. I'll be doing a circle skirt this week, but I've violated the "rules" too.  (I don't even seem to know the rule!  Yikes!)  Une Femme is definitely the scarf expert.  My post is hopefully up by midnight.

  17. Patti, you look as lovely as ever!  I'm actually just the opposite when it comes to shoes.  I will rarely buy a shoe if it's not leather.  I think I got that from my mom. Your skirt looks great at that length, but how cool that you can just roll up the waist!?  Hugs to you girly!  ~Serene

  18. I really love this total look!  I am into knits right now and wish I had the money to get some more…you did the scarf just perfect!!
