A Casual Tuxedo For Any Age: Visible Monday

A casual tuxedo for any age. Oh hey, mostly kidding – this look is not for evening wear or the runway. But to enhance most days of our semi-casual lives, this tuxedo formula works a charm. A slim, classic-cut blazer makes any jeans outfit more polished, and more versatile (e.g., today I went to the dermatologist and found all my skin spots were benign!)

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

The look just takes two minutes longer to assemble than a basic jeans-and-tee shirt. Instead of a cotton tee, choose a silky or drape-y top (this blue Pleione blouse was thrifted in Greenwich Village), and toss on a leather belt and your favorite blazer. Low blocky heels would be a stylish addition, and would dress you up a bit. I went with my not-so-basic snakeskin oxfords.

I feel relaxed, yet pulled-together enough to go anywhere in our small city. The blazer is an old friend from J. Crew Factory and the jeans are via Amazon for an amazing price.

This jean style – cropped and wide and frayed – may not look so smart a year from now. They’re trendy and fun, but I also own straight-leg, dark-wash jeans that work for any day or event.

My everyday add-on hair is the Wiki wig by Ellen Wille. It’s being discontinued, so I’ll have to hunt down a replacement this year, sad.
Florida winter is really dreamy (skip Florida in July!). Here I just placed myself under my favorite palm, enjoying a sunny calm day by the sea.

Is there a casual tuxedo in your closet? Show us (whatever you’re wearing) in the link-up!
