I love a full skirt, any time of year. They’re easy to walk in, graceful at the hem, and look good with all your knit tops. Tuck your tops in or leave them out. You can wear your full skirts with bare legs and sandals in a couple of months, or with tights and boots like I did here.
This cotton/linen skirt (similar) is by Eileen Fisher. It was thrifted in NYC; I have forgotten from which shop. It has fun and funky details and it’s not super-full, so it’s easy for any body shape to wear. I added just a simple black tee (sim) from GAP, an old favorite leaf pendant (sim) and Doc Marten buckled boots (sim). I could have gone to my casual office dressed this way. But now I am gainfully unemployed and this outfit works for all my fun activities – volunteering, thrifting, lunch with Sandy, and more.
These are the pieces I live in most of the year. I am not a high-end fashionista (ha!) but I know my own style and I try to always add a personal, groovy touch to my simple outfits. I’ll bet that’s how many of you dress!

Love your title picture as well Patti not just the comfortable boots and skirt! xo Sabina
Btw. in my monthly review I am going to spread the news about the fierece 50 in German with a reference to you and Catherine!
A fabulous look! Honestly, with your gorgeous figure you can wear anything and look amazing! Thrifting is a fun hobby and good for our environment as well as saving money so we can buy quality clothes. 🙂

Simple, but funky at the same time with the detail on the skirt and the cool boots. I enjoy wearing long skirts in the summer.
The best thing about expressing ourselves, is finding what we love to wear whether it is “in style” or not!! But I do think we are luckier nowadays that not only do we have more to choose from, the “rules” are gone with the wind!!

agree 100% – it is a better, easier time to find our personal style than it was for our moms and grandmothers! xo
Big skirts get a thumbs up from me!
Especially if they have interesting details.
I prefer them in warm weather as they look great with sandals are are so much easier to wear than shorts.

Oh yeah. Freedom to move and sit and even eat a portobello burger with cheese. xo
I love a full skirt too. So comfortable and as I’ve gotten older I enjoy wearing them more than shorts!
Agreed – I don’t find shorts that comfortable. xo
