I found some thrifting treasures on my most recent trip to Manhattan. A cozy Stella McCartney sweater, a pair of AllSaints trousers (similar), a basic black COS dress (sim), and this 80’s revival silk dress by Comptoir des Cotonniers.

Always room in my closet for a sleek shift dress:

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post.

Although the brand is known for its cottons, this is a lovely medium weight silk. I’ve already washed it by hand and shook it out to dry. I love the shoulder details and the easy raglan sleeves. And of course, the deep emerald color – one of my favorites. I added a necklace crafted by artist Suzanne Carillo, a vintage bracelet from Citizen Rosebud, and some years-old Sofft suede wedges (sim). I’ll add leggings in the Fall, and make the dress more casual with rugged boots. Score!

Suzanne’s beaded necklace goes with everything, seriously. The dropped shoulders and raglan sleeves contribute to an 80’s look.

  2. Great scores in NY! I’m so jealous of where you’re going next…
This dress must feel like a million bucks, all that silky softness and the cut is fantastic. You are just missing the linebacker shoulder pads – or NOT! Thanks for the linkup, Patti.

  3. Such a cute dress! Love the idea of pairing it with leggings and boots for the fall. Makes it totally versatile. Also I didn’t know Suzanne makes jewelry!

  4. Love that dress on you Patti. It suits you so well. But I am really in trouble since looking at your fabulous picks here. Love the blue dress…so what am I going to do now??? Have a great day. And thinking of you all in Florida. Lots of love, Sabina

  5. What a score! I hope you have some great luck up here when we thrift.

I adore All Saints but have never found anything in that store that looks good on me.

    bisous

  6. Were there big, fat shoulder pads? I still have a couple of things from the ’80s–I just removed the pads.
Classic dress, great color on you!

  7. I don’t know how you do it Patti but you always seem to find THE best pieces thrifting! Is it because you know the best places to go or is it simply your eye for a treasure? Perhaps you should write a book of suggested technique & hot spots to try? I for one would buy it!
