Wearable Style From NY Fashion Week; Vis Monday Reminder

I like to browse the designer runway collections, via the New York Times Style section. There’s a slide show for each designer. And yes, there are crazy, exaggerated looks but also some fetching styles that can be adapted for us over-40 women. Our style is our own, anyway, to suit our own lives and inclinations.

I picked a few looks from the latest shows that I think are wearable. Or at least inspiring.

A clean, monochromatic look is always chic, if you lean toward the minimalist side. I could definitely wear this look, modified in color (navy or black for me), and slightly less voluminous trousers. I do love the trouser length, the loose shirt cuffs, and the boots:

From the Margaret Howell show.

A classic sheath dress in an unexpected orange color and with a deep ruffled hem is simple and pretty. Easy to wear and accessorize too. I’d like it in cotton for Florida spring/summer:

From the Mulberry show. Crazy for the orange shoes!

Embroidered outerwear is stunning for any season, at any length. This piece is stately and elegant, love the white-on-black and the simple accessories:

From the Oscar de la Renta show. Red sandals pop against the black and white.

Feminine boho styles with built-in pattern mixing are also wearable by any age woman. You do have to feel the boho, though, and choose your mood. This wouldn’t do at Goldman Sachs, but I’d love it for a summer lunch, with wedge sandals.

From the Tory Burch show.

Stay fabulous, and see you at the new “Easy does it” Visible Monday,

  1. I’ve had lots of fun checking out the styles this year. Wow. These are a few of the more tame, wearable ones, any of which I would love. I enjoy the spectacle of this year’s shows, the wild pieces, a few which I would wear. Mostly I have appreciated the levity I get from them on one hand, and the flirtation with disaster on the other. Weird times, interesting clothes.

  2. What a great post idea. You did indeed choose fabulous looks and wearable looks more importantly. I love the orange ruched dress and that fabulous boho dress. Tory Burch does fantastic designs. I’m going on vacation for a week and unfortunately will not be able to link up, but I wanted to wish you a wonderful week ahead.
