We all have too many decisions to make every day, no matter our occupation, age, or status. From What’s for breakfast? in the AM to Did I already brush my teeth? at bedtime. It’s wonderful to at least have clothing that requires no deep thought, and always looks smart. Call in the perfect dress.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

Dresses are one way to simplify daily living. This newly thrifted knit dress by Boden (similar) is just what I’m talking about: pull it on, add a piece of jewelry and some glam sunglasses, and take flight for the day. I love the gathered bodice on this dress to manufacture a little cleavage for us small-on-top women. And grey with yellow looks cheerful.

If you prefer not to show your arms, this elbow length sleeve is great. But, go ahead and show your arms! It’s summer!

The necklaces are layered – the choker style is a vintage 1960’s piece, and the chain of beads was made by a friend. I’m wearing my “Patti” bead bracelet my grandfather made for me when I was a little kid. He was a prince, that man.

The perfect dress looks cool in black and white too. Sneaker oxfords by Steve Madden.

What was supposed to be a choker became a Princess Leia style brassiere.

  1. I have a few Boden pieces that I reach for again and again, easy to wear and wash makes them winners!
    Thanks for hosting x

  2. I love the simplicity of a dress, Patti. It sounds so easy the way you describe it. I must try harder. Heh. Thanks for the linkup.

  3. Dresses are such a great alternative when shorts just don’t quite work in longer. I love the floral print on this little vintage treasure Patti. Those sneakerish shoes are fun , funky and add some edge to that pretty dress.

  4. That dress looks fab as does the choker – on you and puss!
Yeah ladies! get those arms out. If you’re wearing something fabulous nobody but you will notice your arms anyway! xxx

  5. How cool is it that you still have that bracelet from your Grandpa? Love that!

Ha ha! I need me a Princess Leia style bra.

The joys of thrifting is you can find fun easy-to-wear pieces like this. My Karina dresses are similar.

  6. Patti, that black and white photo is so artsy! You look fabulous, as always. And of course, Kitty is splendid in her Princess Leia outfit. I’ve only come around to love dresses in the last year or so and now I wear them all the time, especially in summer!

PS: I hope to be back soon to join your link-up. I’m working on some fun things!

    Hugs to you and Kitty!

    • You have got some incredible dresses! Looking forward to seeing some of your fun things. xox

  7. Hi, Patti, your dress looks great; thanks for sharing. Maybe your beady friend could make a Princess Leia bra in your size!

Your blog’s been in my feed reader for a long time, but recently it quit working. I tried to subscribe again, but it doesn’t work. Is something broken on your end? Or did you turn off the feed? TIA, Lucy

    • Hi Lucy! Sorry you’ve been having trouble getting my posts. I have a widget in the upper right hand corner of this page that says “Subscribe Via Email.” I tested it on my husband and it works a treat. Thanks for reading and following! xo

  8. Yes, to dresses and how easy they are to style. This floral knit number is quite pretty and flattering. I so love that you still have a bracelet your grandfather made you. What a treasured item it must be.

  9. I LOVE that dress! The gathered front is so pretty. I’m also drooling over that embroidered cross body bag!

  10. Great dress Patti, I can see why its just the one on days when it all seems too hard. The sleeves are such a flattering length. Kitty does look rather cute. Many thanks for hosting.

  11. That is indeed a perfect dress, especially for summer. I like my arms to be covered for sun protection, but long sleeves are weird in summer, so I usually aim for 3/4 length. Just so they aren’t T-shirt length, which leads to farmer tan.
Also, a dress with no waistband is so much more comfortable in summer. The gathering on the top gives the dress a nice shape, so it doesn’t end up being a waist-less sack.

  12. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I love a simple dress and appreciate the ease of getting dressed and looking nice without fuss. This dress is very very pretty. I’m happy that you have such a sentimental piece of jewelry. I’m sure you were his princess. Have a wonderful week ahead.

  13. This type of dresses are perfect. As you say, throw some accessories on and you look stylish. Interestingly, your figurine cat wear that necklace very well. Make sure she/e gives it back to you. LOL. Thanks for hosting the party and visiting mine.

  14. What a great dress, Patti! I love dresses you can just throw on and Bam! you’re dressed. Thanks for hosting!

  15. Such a cute dress! And I agree: what to wear shouldn’t become yet another thing causing stress, so sometimes we need an easy solution, and a wear-and-go dress sounds a good idea.
