Off To The Great City; Vis Monday Reminder

We’re leaving today for a New York City trip – this one more exciting than others because it’s our first stay in our new wee studio! I’m still pinching myself because this seemed like an impossible dream just a few years ago. A tiny place of our own, so we can do New York Science Festivals and Vintage Fashion shows, or just soak up the atmosphere of the greatest city.

On this trip we’re setting up the barest basics, and I’m sure we’ll forget all sorts of things. And shopping for house stuff in downtown Manhattan is not like the easy life here in Florida: we will buy just what fits in a cab, on the subway, or ship it with Amazon. Not complaining! It will help us be city minimalists.

I found this graphic on Pinterest, and it’s quite helpful except for all that kitchen stuff. I’ve never heard of some of it, says the woman who orders out and stores Tupperware inside the oven.

Is the ice cream scoop really one of the essentials? : >  Source.

While I’m away, I’d love it if you participated in Visible Monday, to share all the great over-40 looks!

I’ll be working from my mobile phone while in the city, so I won’t be able to respond in a timely way to your lovely comments and pics. Please forgive, and enjoy the party.

Stay fabulous and see you next week, xox,

Reminder: Visible Monday starts Sunday around 5PM. You are invited to share your favorite outfit, accessory, hairstyle or lipstick of the week – anything that made you feel Visible. Be there for the best blogger party and the finest style on the webz!

  1. Gaaaa! This is EXCELLENT!! How exciting! It reminds me of Barefoot in the Park, that Neil Simon play/movie and the young couple getting a new apartment. Sigh. A welcome mat. At least they didn’t suggest a mat that says Armed Response. Hahaha!! or not. You guys are going to have a blast. Cheers, that’s all you need, some vino, fancy glasses, and French bread. All set.

  2. Dear Patti, how exciting – ENJOY!!! I think the list of so-called essentials is ridiculous. Surely New York is the city for eating out? I recall fabulous breakfasts and suppers with a choice from every cuisine in the world.

  3. The big Apple warmly welcomes you !
Lol, my mom used to store her shoes in the oven!
I stayed in Hell’s Kitchen this weekend, no ac in my co-op till next month..

  4. I’m so excited for you! You are definitely living one of my long held dreams, to have a little place in NYC. I enjoy shopping for household items when furnishing a new place, but I agree with Suzanne that a lot of that stuff on the list isn’t necessary (do people use tablecloths anymore?). Enjoy setting up your new home away from home!

  5. How exciting – your very own NYC pad!!!
I agree with Suzanne, so much of that stuff sounds completely unnecessary. Wine glasses and a corkscrew, that’s all you need!
    Have a brilliant time. xxx

  6. I’d say you just get rid of everything they suggested in the kitchen…aside from the coffee cups and wine glasses ; P Some of the other stuff suggested is outdated. Is a welcome mat a necessity? I’m sure you can cut that list down by 70% and still be very happy. It’ll be like the first time you and Sandy lived together : P

I’m so excited for you! Enjoy!

    Suzanne
