Inspiration From Five Fab Over-50 Instagram Women

I have a love-hate relationship with social media. I don’t enjoy the crabby people, of course, and I also wonder if we’re putting ourselves out there in the world based on our shallowest dimension – our looks. I still participate though, so the benefits must be outweighing the negatives. And I love to observe bold over-50 women dressing, and living, like a boss.

I especially enjoy finding new-to-me over-50 women on Instagram, who have style and attitude. I look for women from other cultures and countries, to help expand my orbits. I love originality and confidence, and it makes me even prouder to be an over-50 (over-60) style blogger. Have you met the following?:

European classic. Misja B of Misjabeiers  describes herself as a “European 60+ fashion photographer and blogger.” Her photos are terrific and her style is cool and modern. Love this mixed print look, in classic black and white:

A gorgeous over-60 woman, Keiko of Aoihura, has a modest, feminine aesthetic. She calls herself an “ordinary wife, mom, and grandma, 68 years old”, from Japan. This floral skirt is a beauty:

Looking great for every occasion. Beth of Style At A Certain Age says “trends come and go but true style is ageless.” I love Beth’s classics-with-color style, and she has fabulous silver hair and a handsome dog named Oscar.

Go bold, live bold. Evelyn of Fashionista Over 40 calls herself a “self proclaimed, Latina Fashionista at heart.” She mixes casual and dressy, and looks equally great in colors and monochrome. And she has a cool haircut.

Berlin-chic. Miss Black of Frau_schwarz_traegt_schwarz (Instagram does translations for us monolinguals) says “Style is not a matter of age.”  She’s 65, and for me she captures that European ease: looking chic without trying too hard. More great hair.

Stay fabulous and revel in your own style, xo,

  1. Thanks for this introduction to these wonderful and unique fashionistas. I also love to see the individuality of style and how each woman expresses herself through fashion— from all over the globe. And I also have mixed feelings about social media, but here we are. Have a wonderful week and enjoy the fourth !

  2. I appreciate so much the people who have gone to the trouble to make videos or instagram posts that help me through tough spots, such as a recent eye surgery. Also appreciate you for the list above. Beth of Style at a Certain Age has coloring and hair style similar to my own. It’s helpful to see her outfits and get an idea of the best looks for me.

    • Wishes for full recovery from your surgery, Carol! And thanks for coming by, xox

    • thanks Sherry – you know you’re on my “always” list of fab women. xox

  3. I feel the same way about social media. But I do love seeing other women going for it – living boldy, embracing life, and most of all encouraging others. It’s inspiring and has taken the place of reading magazines for me. I love seeing real women in real fashion!
