Lost Doggy Found; It’s Gratitude Wednesday

I usually do Gratitude posts on Fridays, but it’s not a law, eh? This is Gratitude Wednesday and it’s always time to focus on the good. The mood in the U.S. is uncertain and there’s been a shortage of optimism on the international scene too. While I worry about national and international affairs, I have to take a day to reflect on the good and hopeful.

We have the ability to take anything we see every day for granted. As I age, I’m trying to do less of that. Some of the uncomplicated things I’m happy about today:
1. A beautiful morning scene, taken from our balcony, in our little beach town:

2. My dear friend B’s beloved dog, twelve years old and deaf , wandered out of B’s yard. A search team was mobilized and four hours later B found Chloe a half block away, just wagging her tail and happy to see him. We all cried. B lives alone with his two dogs and loves them like family, or more. I think we all get that emotion.

3. OK I am shallow – this ring I found at Macy’s. Aye, it’s a beauty. It was about $40 when my sister let my use her Macy’s card for further discount. Is it too big? (#richgirlproblems).

4. We’re halfway through Top Of The Lake, a moody and gripping mystery set in New Zealand. It stars Elizabeth Moss of Mad Men fame as an emotionally wounded detective (I know, I know – aren’t they all?) trying to solve a missing child case. With twists. The scenery is breathtaking too.

5. Dermatitis! Not something to be grateful for, but the massive rash on my hands has subsided. I immersed my bare hands in a strong cleaner last weekend, while working on the shower. The shower looks good but I was left with raw, even blistered hands. My personal cure (YMMV): gobs of petroleum jelly mixed with cocoa butter, topped with cotton gloves. Oh yeah, and no more bare-handed scrubbing, doh. For extreme cases, a steroid cream is recommended but I didn’t have to go that route.
How is your week going, and what’s making you smile today?

Stay fabulous,

  1. So glad Chloe was found. Your ring looks just about the right size and it’s a wonderful colour. I like mysteries so will check out Top of the Lake. Thanks

  2. Yikes! That’s unfortunate about your hands; hope the rash is gone soon. Very glad to see that Chloe was returned home safely. So many animals who wander off or are taken are not returned. The ring is definitely not too big (says the person who wears at least 5 giant silver rings on a daily basis).

    • ( 200..1329 01:02 ) : Great job, I recently came your internet site along with desired to say that We have truly enjoyed surfing around your website posts. I have decided upon your own nourish and that i we do hope you write again soon!

    • "This would only be true IF"Yes, i should specify i'm operating on the premise that the base bug, if it exists, is designed to spread sexually and does so by inducing compulsive promiscuity.I also think it's a strategy of the gay version of the bug. I think originally (if it exists) it was a compulsive promiscuity / rape bug i.e. the sort of thing you could easily imagine being loose in the recent wars in the Congo and the gay variant arose (if it exists) because it spreads easier through anal sex.

    • Does anyone have a suggestion for a good strapline then? I should imagine it’s hard to come up with something that meets the needs of thousands and thousands of people, their community, individual, social, educational, and welfare needs, without sounding too cheesy. Oh, not to mention their economic, heritage and cultural needs too…. and what about their aspirations, rather than just their immediate needs? Hmmmmm…. I’m really appreciating why this is a hard thing to accomplish!

  3. So glad Chloe was found. The ring is beautiful and not too big. What’s making me smile today is that I have three weeks to go before I can start walking on both feet. I broke my right ankle slipping on the stairs at the end of September and have been in a cast and not able to put weight on my right leg. So enjoy your blog.

  4. Eeek! What are you doing scrubbing without rubber gloves on woman? LOL

That wonderful story about Chloe being found made me tear up. I love happy news!

I watched that series last year I think. It was weird seeing Holly Hunter in a series after all this time. I’d all but forgotten about her since The Piano.

I admire those that can wear large rings. The colour is gorgeous.

    bisous
    Suzanne

    • I know, a found dog is always a source of happy tears.
The director of The Piano is the same as for Top of the Lake, Jane Campion. xox

  5. Hooray for the safe return of lovely Chloe, what a lovely old girl.
I’d forgotten all about Top of the Lake, I watched the first two episodes and I think we went away. I’ll have to see if I can find it on-line.
I had the most terrible eczema on my hands for years, you have my sympathy. Mine finally went after I discovered aloe vera gel from the health shop.
Is it even possible for a ring to be too big? xxx

    • Haha! I think you are right, a ring can’t be too big! Glad you found relief for your hands. xox

  6. Chloe has been found!!! That is news worth celebrating. All good things here, Patti, and I am very happy to see it. And thanks for the viewing tips. I think I would enjoy this series too. The ring? LOVE that!

    • I think you’d like Top of the Lake – very strong women inhabit it. And yes hooray for Chloe! xo
