I love hanging out in our small downtown. That’s where to find the Humane Society Thrift Shop, where I volunteer, and antique stores, boutiques, and naturally a couple of fine pubs. It’s got good photo backdrops too, and lots of friendly people.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Link back to Not Dead Yet Style if you like – we’re on Easy Does It “rules” now!

I’m dressed for downtown today, with black and plaid and funky boots. The wrap top by Etcetera (similar) is recently thrifted and fun to mix with jeans or skirts, and over dresses. The thrifted skirt by Philosophy (sim) is a just-right pencil, not too grabby. It looks like lightweight wool but it’s cotton/poly knit and really versatile.

Can you see the cats all over the apron in the window? Love.

I just bought some new sunglasses because, uh, I left my old ones somewhere in this very downtown area. And that is why I never buy pricey shades. The boots are by Born (sim), and they’re my best walking-around-NYC boots. Style take-away: black and navy look great next to each other.

Covering a giant yawn, or shocked at some downtown shenanigans? I don’t remember, we just came from the pub.

Now, let’s see what’s in your closet, Visible Women.

The guidelines to participate in the Visible Monday Link-Up are so simple:

    1. Whoever wants to can join in! Just compose a post that includes any outfit, accessory, piece of jewelry, hairstyle, cosmetic or other adornment that makes you feel more confident, alive and visible that day.
    2. Go to the bottom of this post and click on the InLinkz button “Add Your Link”. It should open a new page.
    3. In the “Next Step”, you crop the pic (easy tool) you want to display, and you’re done!

  1. Pricey subglasses are a crazy purchase unless they’re attached around your neck with a longblack string like mittens! You look so chic here Patti!

  2. I prefer to think you are shocked. Although there’s much to be said for napping too – I’m a big fan. Great thrifted top, perfect for mix’n’match. And I’m a sucker for plaid. I’m glad this skirt allows you to walk; pencil skirts can be so tricky. Me too, about the sunglasses. Thanks for the link-up, Patti. I love seeing everyone here.

  3. I hope you had a great time at the funky downtown wearing those funky boots! Love how you mixed these pieces together…they flow so fluidly.

    xo,
    Janise

  4. Get the apron!!! It’s fab.
You look wonderfully cool and relaxed in your outfit, love the chunky boots.
I love my sunglasses – the pair I wore around indie cost me a whopping £20 (I’ve got original Guccis that cost less) but I love them! xxx

  5. Edgy, cool, modern and sophisticated. You are all those things in this outfit Patti. Love the cropped plaid culottes. =)

  6. This is a great look on you. The skirt length with those short boots is awesome, a very comfortable and street-worthy outfit.

  7. Loving your downtown outfit, Patti, and especially the pencil skirt. Incidentally, I am wearing a comfortable pencil skirt too! xxx

  8. Very smart downtown look but with your own spin. The boots do look very comfortable. I spied the apron with the cats , so cute. I am the opposite with sunnies , paying more makes me take good care of them. Many thanks for hosting Patti.

  9. Elegant and relaxed look, I love it, Patti! Born make the best shoes, very comfy for walking. And I also buy inexpensive specs – too easy to break or loose. I think only once I bought $100 sunnies by Marc Jacobs. They are fantastic, but I scratched them, so no more such extravaganza for me!

  10. Arg, my comment was eaten.
Try again! Love the outfit, Patti! Those walking shoes are fabulous, and I love the chic ensemble.

Thank you so much for hosting “Visible Monday!”

  11. You need that apron! Mind you…what the heck would you wear it for? Ha ha! The bedroom? You’re not in the kitchen cooking. It could make a very sexy boudoir ensemble though.

I know! Wear it for opening a bottle of wine! ; P

    Suzanne

  12. Well that must’ve been downtown Florida, with that sunny looking weather. Nice ensemble for it. It’s still freeeeezzzzing here.

  13. Small downtowns are the best! You wear that plaid with class and a little funky fun with those cool boots! xo

  14. This outfit is SO downtown! I adore the sunglasses; like you I always lose or scratch mine so I rarely spend a lot on them. xx
