Are you familiar with the eShakti online clothing boutique? They make very cool, retro-style pieces that have loads of personality. When they asked me to review one of their dresses (I received it for free, but I promised to be honest), I was more than tickled to do it. I love dresses, especially those I don’t see hanging in the Mall shops.

Welcome to Visible Monday. If you want to participate, it’s so easy: just go to the bottom of this post for the how-to. Please be kind and leave a link to Not Dead Yet Style in your post.

I chose this charming Colorblock Cotton Knit Dress, in black and crimson. The extra-fun of shopping eShakti is that you can customize your item to your own measurements, and even change up the sleeves, necklines and length to best suit you. I made the sleeves elbow length, for more comfort in the Florida climate. I stayed with the scoop neckline and knee-length hem, but I would definitely try this dress with a boat neck and cap sleeves. It’s well-made and completely comfortable.

There’s a checkerboard look to the pattern.

I added a very old thrifted belt (similar) to accentuate the waist, retro-style. The lovely pink vintage bracelet (sim) is another gift from my dear friend B; it belonged to his mom and matches the necklace he gave me. The brown Doc Marten boots (sim) are also several years old but still look groovy.

I added my thrifted Trina Turk tux jacket (sim) for those chilling Florida winds : >

  1. What a lovely dress Patti. The pattern is unusual and it’s got a sleek look that really suits you. Great styling with those DM boots – clever move!

  2. This is a very popular clothing retailer and I can see why. You look fabulous in this dress, especially with the accessories you’ve selected. It’s great how you can customize the dress when you order it. I’ve joined up. Thank you for being here – it’s an incentive to get out of the house!!

  3. That is a great dress and the boots are so cool, like you – the coolest 60+ blogger I know!! Happy Monday, Patti!

  4. What a perfect dress. Especially on you. I love it with but even more without the jacket. Your boots are very good with the dress (never would have come up with them). Unfortunately ordering anything from the USA is too much hassle for me, otherwise I would.

  5. Oh, such a standout color block dress! So fun with your Doc Martins. I really like the versatility eShakti offers with their styles.

  6. What a great pattern on the dress! eShakti contacted me before Christmas to review one of their items too, but so far, I’ve not received the dress so it may have been lost in the mail. I do like the way you can customize neckline, sleeve length and hem length.

  7. Oh, I love this dress! Such a perfect fit and a really nice print! Looks no less great with a blazer over it.

  8. Wow, your dress is awesome and you look fabulous. How wonderful that you were able to customize it to your needs and tastes. And do I see that it has pockets? If so, winner, winner! Thanks for sharing about this retailer and for hosting the link up.

  10. Love, love, love this dress. The sleeve length is perfect, the colorblack pattern gives it such a fun modern vibe, and I love the way you added the funky belt.

  11. LOVE the large check pattern to pieces and of course the color!! You are just the cutest!!! Your style always makes me smile!!
