Chartreuse is not the easiest color to wear (if you’re a fashion geek, here‘s a long history of chartreuse). It’s bright with strong yellow undertones, and washes out many skin tones. It is a gorgeous color, though, and makes me happy. So I wear it in trousers, skirts, and in accessories like a printed scarf, bracelet or shoes (I haven’t done the shoes yet, but I would).

Welcome to an exciting link-up for us over-40 fashion lovers: My Refined Style, created by the lovely Shellie of The FABulous Journey. We’re hosting a link-up once a month, that all you 40+ beauties can participate in, and share the love. All you have to do is leave a link below, using the ever-familiar InLinkz tool, and mention My Refined Style in your post. Your link-up will be shared over seven fab blogs, and Vogue magazine (kidding, for now, about that last thing).

My Refined Style isn’t refined in the sense of shopping at only the priciest boutiques. It’s refined down to what I love to wear, what speaks to me from my closet, and what feels good.

Here I went all out with chartreuse jeans, (by Eileen Fisher, thrifted, similar), a favorite floral scarf (sim) and my Trina Turk print jacket (sim). Why be shy? I added my new Steve Madden boots (sim) for grounding.

  1. I feel really, really stupid: I always thought chartreuse was red! Anyway, I really don’t think I can wear that color, but maybe just for a pop of excitement in shoes or belt. Thanks for the idea.

  2. I love chartreuse. And it is a very tough color to wear next to your face. That is why I wear my fav 40s chartreuse blouse with a print scarf at the neck. So there is some type of buffer in between! That Trina Turk jacket is awesome! And love the way the two prints look together.

  3. I like your pants! I have seen chartreuse when it is a bit more blinding. I like the subdued versions a lot more. But I still haven’t tried it myself! I’m sure I’ll get around to it eventually.

  4. Chartreuse is a tough color to wear! It looks fabulous with your jacket! That’s a fabulous piece in you. Great to host My Refuned Style with you!
    xx Jennifer

  5. I’m loving that scarf! And the pattern on pattern.

Good for you on pulling of chartreuse with flare.

Have you ever drank a pousse café? It was one of my favourite drinks to make as a bartender and has chartreuse in it.

    bisous
    Suzanne
